On another note, today I'm reading this local Taiwanese magazine (moved here a few months ago to teach, miss Vancouver) and news is that A&K is back in business (http://www.akairsoft.com/). And the owner says they're coming out with two new products, one SVD AEG (yes, battery-powered) and another, YES M24 !!!! For the latter the owner says they "used parts left from CNC" dunno what that means... Due date unspecified too, that's all the news I got hope others can elaborate. Cheers! And Fox and others PLEASE put your M24s on the scale and tell me its net weight (without bipod, scope and sling) PLEASE!! Thanks !! |
I typed in "CA M24" weight on google... According to an online store, 3.603 Kg.
|
If you are looking for a realistic weight, the M24 is the heavyest Bolt action sniper rifle in airsoft. The stock is a one peice, solid fiberglass composite and the rest is all metal. Unlike the Maruzen L96, wich is heavy, but made out of hollow plastic.
|
People are always surprised by the weight of the rifle when they first pick-up a CA M24.
It is a really solid rifle and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in airsoft BA's. It is my favourite airsoft rifle - period. |
my addition -
Kart jae-100 socom length M14 http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...0617002346.jpg please forgive the messy workspace took the picture right after getting it home. the stock bipod and the reflex are no longer on it. making it shoot pretty (aka entire internal replacement LOL ) before I make it look pretty ... but I was really suprised at how well it shoots stock, as my expectations for a stock Kart were really low |

Thanks!! I think it's a buy for me then... Cheers!!

Its been a long time since i've posted on here, but I figure this is a good a spot as any to start :) |
Ca m24
All these sniper rifles look amazing! I want to get a CA M24 but where the hell co you find one! No one is importing them and those that have them want to keep them! Thats a good sign for a reliable rifle...not so good for me tho!
|
Just a personal preference, I like my airsoft to be authentic to real steel's specs. Nothing funny about it
|
For me, as long as it's close to the real counterpart weight and the thing is ballanced.

|

Ok, figured it was time to put an update in the sniper rifle thread.

Looks great - can you give some info instead of just teasing us? Would be appreciated :)

The Sun Projects M40 is bone stock. I got it used from a friend getting out of airsoft for dirt cheap. On it is a Weaver 9x my dad had sitting around the house from the early 70s (it's almost close). The bottom AICS is a Tanaka modified to take high pressure air, and the top is an original Marushin APS2 Type 96 (internals are Laylax piston and stock spring in a Guarder cylinder with cylinder head. and Laylax barrel spacers) sitting on a repro Harris Type S bipod.
Missing is my APS2 SV, my M14, and MSG90. Sorry, that it's so vague. I prefer the challenge of keeping my rifles mostly stock. And the elastic on the Type 96 is for attaching scrim to it. |
oops, forgot the top M40 with the walnut stock is a Remington 700 SPS Varmint with a Redfield 3-9x30 optic chambered in .308.
|
The M40 looks so nice!!
Paint I did on my TM VSR-10 this fall http://i28.servimg.com/u/f28/14/88/97/76/dsc01712.jpg http://i28.servimg.com/u/f28/14/88/97/76/dsc01714.jpg http://i28.servimg.com/u/f28/14/88/97/76/dsc01716.jpg |
i'll be posting up my A&K SVD soon :)
I am seeing way too much of the same kind of sniper on this thread... figured it could use some spicing up :) |
Good job on the paint Fallen, looks familiar ;)

Since I took massive inspiration from this thread I thought I might as well show my gun. Painted it last year, thought it came out pretty nice. Just a Well L96, all stock. I have got a couple of nice kills though, one out to ~210ft.

Awesome SVD! Looks fantastic!
|
Thanks, and I would have to agree...*L*
I'd like some kind of ghillie for it so I can take it out in the yard (i'm rural) and not have it look so threatening in the event someone might see it...*L* |

My brand new Echo 1 M28, its currently bone stock but upgrades to whats compatible are coming. Its a project in progress right now, I am currently working with a professional airbrush artist to come with something fantastic for its stock.
Its five feet long and every last inch is awesome. http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...3-02200033.jpg Better pics to come once the airbrushing is done. |

Stock logos ftw |
its a bit fuzzy but it will have to do till this sunday wen i game it
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...C/DSCF2399.jpg |
For an echo item that I cannot figure out what it was cloned from its actually exceeded my expectations ( mind you they were not very high to start) this item actually is surprisingly fair and damn near exactly like the CA M24 minus a few slight differences like the magazines. Due to the fact that I am currently in town and haven't had a chance to get out to any location as of late with suitable distance Ive been working with the 75 foot range that I currently have available. Shot consistency is fair for the most part. I was able to hit my soup can targets on par every time at the range I was using. More testing will be required for longer ranges.
My only complaint at this time is the extremely unsatisfying "twang" I get when I fire. However once I replace the compression components with upgraded internals I hope to remedy that issue entirely. I will do a full review a in a few months when I can source all the appropriate upgrade parts and have the time to sit down and do a thorough examination of the gun. In the mean time I still have to get the other side of my stock painted with a little special something Ive been working on. |
Wheat logo?
Where the dildo logo? I'm sadden... :D |
Its my team logo!
The other side may have the image of a dildo that will appear as if it is penetrating my mouth when I shoulder the gun. Its gonna be awesome. No its not going to be that at all I was just being facetious. |
Hey T7 I too just received an Echo1 M28 and i have the same dang twang......hey that rymed if upgrading the compressions solves this let me know i was gonna go te rout of an aeg that twangs replace the spring guide. Did it to my CA M15 and it worked but like i said its an AEG not a Spring rifle.
|
Spring guide and new spring will arrive before the compression parts. I'm hoping that will solve the issue as well but given my luck it will most likely have to be a complete over haul.
|
I'll have one of these things to play around with shortly.
I'll figure it all out lol |
Well keep us posted. Maybey even start a new thread for just the Echo1 Mods and Upgrades

Nice. Good base.
Any reason why your scope is jacked so hight? |
Well, I received the rifle like that, and i'll be honest, i'm pretty comfortable with it.
Considoring the pattern still, Might do something different. We'll see when I get the paint, missing a brown atm |

All the body screws are currently stripped... but a few zipties holds everything together quite nicely... http://i55.tinypic.com/2ynnqya.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/20a8bwl.jpg Sorry for the shitty image quality. |
Freshly painted, and freshly beat the shit out of. Gamed it for the first time saturday and had some pretty satisfactory results. The ziptie on the barrel is new, had to put a block of wood down and some 'spacers' to keep the barrel aligned and not bouncing about. Looking to make a barrel band in the future.
Before: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...f/DSC00578.jpg And after: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ff/M700USP.jpg Shitty camera, tried to fix it up with photoshop. It makes a good background at least. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...f/M700USP2.jpg Its a lot more scratched up than it looks, don't exactly have a good camera. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...f/M700USP3.jpg And Saturdays tally. Had one fucker not calling his hits (Even after being repeatedly headshotted, he was wearing a helmet though.) Only counted him once for the sake of hitting him. |
Looks amazing Strelok, what model is it?
|
Its a KJ M700P that I got in a trade. It was pretty fucked up when I first got it, but its starting to preform really nicely.
Buying a bunch of parts from a guy here, and hopefully a means to tap my tanaka long mag to an HPA tank for better consistency. Need a new hopup too... Updates to come next sunday. |
I just got my first sniper rifle. Mauser SR Tactical Pro. Might not be painting it up but will be doing a ghillie wrap for sure... pictures to follow...

Hey guys, got my baby about 4 days ago. Ditched the VSR for it. Its a Ares DSR-1 Version 2. Shoots wonderfully, no stupid gas leak, and nice reinforced bi-pod... all the good stuff. Planning on a TB but thats about all she needs.

Once painted, you will look more like an SF shooter than a wealty bench target shooter.
You could tape it like the UK army does and paint over it, keeping the base finish untouched. |
Quote:
Any suggestions on what colors/patterns to use? its difficult to find pictures of it actually deployed in the field. |
I've got an idea for your DSR-1, wrap your rifle in flecktan fabric (like bulk-type sheets of the stuff). I REALLY don't want to see that rifle dirtied up.
|

I would pref something like material or a gun wrap over paint personally. Right now I wear all cadpat but I may be changing.... issue is where I live cadpat is so damn effective I don't know if its worth it for the "authentic" look. |
Quote:
http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/5...8266059ap0.jpg I tried this option and it work well. I used face paint to camo the green tape. I mainly did stripes to simulare 3D branches and break the rifle shape. http://public.bay.livefilestore.com/..._v3.jpg?psid=1 The green was less green in real life. |
Dart, if CADPAT is that effective keep with it, sniper blend with the enviroment, not necessary with the grunts. I'm no gear/military expert, I'm just a noob with some ideas, take them at that.

An ACM VSR-10. A leatherman. I, seriously, did all the work with a pocket tool. First, measure where you want the outer barrel to end. I made it a m102404's thumb width (about an inch) past the stock. Then disassemble the gun, and don't let your drunk friends wrestle with others on the table, it makes the screws hard to keep track of. I then cut the outer barrel with the physical help of Santa, and a pocket tool from Eeyore. Did I mention you should be drinking while doing this? After this is done, and probably the next day when you've finished drinking and rehydrated, file down the outer barrel threaded cap to slide into the outer barrel (the one still attached to the stock). Then glue it in place and spray paint it to cover all of your tool marks from beating it with a leatherman. Next, reinstall it loosely onto the gun to find out where to cut the inner barrel, mark it with a sharpie. Then, disassemble the hop up, and take the inner barrel to a solid desk, and cut it with a leatherman. This takes a long fucking time. Once done (congrats!), crown it using a very sharp knife on the leatherman, and file the outside a bit to make it look pro. Reinstall. (I took this time to disassemble the china gun and re-lube it) Put this all back together, notice that you hate the sling loops, try to knock out the pins with a small screwdriver bit on the leather man, figure it's quicker to just cut them off. Then file it down to make it smooth. EDIT: I haven't chronied it, but the cardboard says it's probably cqb friendlyish. EDIT UPDATE: It shoots 370 on 0.20's... Guess I have to lower the spring a little... EDIT PICS: Thanks to coachster for the pics. This was after more than a couple beers, and about half way through the outer barrel. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k...C/IMG_0632.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k...C/IMG_0640.jpg |
THAT turned out rather well there Tom, considering what it looked like last night. I'm rather jealous now. It's pretty quiet to shoot and with the short length, it'll be easy to maneuver in tight spaces. I imagine more than a few people are going to call hit while never hearing or seeing that thing coming.
Nicely done. 'Fly |
