Whats your favorite gun?

Ok I saw the "what gun have you always hated ?" thread and it got me to wondering. Everyone has their favorite gun some swear by armalites, others AK's. I'm curious as to what they are and your reasoning behind it.

For me the L85 was my favorite, nice and compact and ugly as sin. Though my tastes tend to wander from gun to gun at times.

kullwarrior September 17th, 2009 01:25

Im sure this has been mentioned before to death.

Favorites:
Used to and still is P90 (wish they actually chamber something good like 556, in firearms you could just have it stach 60 degrees instead of 90 and it could still probably squeeze 40 rounds)

Used to G36
Used to FN SCAR (2004)

XtenZ September 17th, 2009 01:38

I love my SCAR, which happens to be my only gun and in peices next to me. I have to agree with Gerbalfarm though, I do like the looks of the L85..cute like a baby moose.

Hell yea!
I like MP5s
Not with the normal stock, it just looks all unproportioned to me, unless there is a suppressor. Or a retractable stock is fine. My favourite variant is the MP5SD6.

Strelok September 17th, 2009 02:20

For me, its the AK47. Not the 74 or 74U, Just a plain old AK47. I've owned an m4, and an m16 too. But still, AK is the perfect gun for me.

I dunno, I just like the simplicity of them, and with my stature they're a perfect fit in my hands. The sights aren't too obstructive to the sight picture (I can actually see around what i'm aiming at. Which regular M16/m4 sights obstruct your sight picture quite a bit)

That, and you don't need to crank a wheel to get the sight to lift up a few centimeters. Raising the sight is as simple as reaching back with your thumb (Without taking your hands off the grip of the gun and sliding it back or forward. So its doable on the go.

Changing magazines is a sinch. I mean, on armalites its easy too... But i've always hated fumbling with a magazine and trying to aim the magazine into the magazine well on an m16.\

With the AK, its just right there, hinge the magazine in and you're ready to go. Thats another plus for me!

--

Mp5.

Yeah, I've grown to love the Aftermath Lycaon I baught. Surprisingly enough for a clearsoft gun it shoots quite well (faster and harder than my G&G ak47, but not nearly as consistant or anywhere near as accurate)

Much the same with my like for AK's, its a nice fit for people of all sizes. I'm only 5' 9" I think. (Haven't checked in a while)
Its just simply comfortable to shoulder and aim and shoot. I have the rear sights filed to be a bit more open to aim down, though. Can't say i'm too fond of the apeture style.

sortie39 September 17th, 2009 02:41

tons of!!typically,classic boltaction rifles,japan's arisaka,morden equip like pla's type 81,type 95....

skalnok September 17th, 2009 02:48

g36k. g36, bushmaster acr, 1911, sig p226x, usp, m4 varients ( some i love, others i hate passionately)

Schlyder September 17th, 2009 03:03

SIG 550 (also the Swiss Arms Black Special *seen in my signature*) and the Sig 551/552. Heckler and Koch HK53A2. Lee Enfield Nos.1 MkIII
But I like my full length Black Special (semi only civilian model SIG 550) best.
And the Sig P229R, as well the P226R.

Bissa September 17th, 2009 03:30

while there are some guns that I can appreciate the look of, now that I think of it I cant think of any guns that I would name as my favorite. blades and regular explosives are my favorite right now because of their simplicity.

Gunny_McSmith September 17th, 2009 08:26

SCAR, G36, R700.....

and one of Illusions custom pistols!!! DO WANT!!!!!

KND September 17th, 2009 08:35

That only MP5 variant that I like is MP5K or MP5K PDW with grip change to A3 style.

HK USP.45
HK USP.45 Compact
Glock 19
Glock 17
1911A1 government model,
AR variant.
SVD and AK 47
HK G36C
Thompson
M1 Garand
FN SCAR-L and SCAR-H

Well sound like I have so many favorite guns though.

Crunchmeister September 17th, 2009 08:43

I'm a big fan of Armalites. They just feel right and natural in my hands and when I'm shouldering and shooting them. I'd follow that up with the MP5.

For pistold, Beretta still make my favourite, although I have a nice appreciation for Glocks and the Sig P226.

cooney September 17th, 2009 08:48

-M14 not those tiny socom versions
-Mac 10/11 because they are small and sexy
-M16A1 I have a fetish feel for those handguards ;) and the smaller stock and the different flash hider

Redneck Jimbo September 17th, 2009 09:08

Springfield M14s, specifically the M21 wit the USMC DMR stock or the Vietnam stile M14A1 SAW. The EBR stock is starting to grow on me to.

The M60E3 with long barral.

Beretta 92FS/M9 and H&K MK.23 SOCOM are damn nice and a peach to fire.

Con Murder September 17th, 2009 12:19

The Sig series, 550 556 and 552. I really want to hold and test a 556 but I just adore the simplisity of desighn and the low population of the models on the feild.

Lakonian September 17th, 2009 12:33

POF P-415: Beautiful modified AR with gas-piston. Almost godlike reliability according to most reviews. If looks could kill, this thing wouldn't need the ammo to run.

AK74SU: Awesome little folder. I will never own the real deal, but... it's the only gun that could coax me move to the states... Loving my RK01S, though.

CZ858/VZ58L : Effin' fun rifle. Accurate as all hell, and sounds awesome. Needless to say, will be owning one when $$ allows.

SKS-D: First RS I've ever owned.
.... Oh, that and it takes AK mags, never dies... and looks pretty mean. :D

cerealmaniac September 17th, 2009 14:16

for me it would be the AK47, MP5A series and the G18c =)

Stayed tuned!

Just finishing up the alternate slide
I had kicking around. Stripped the
black and painfully sanded a super
durable grey undercoat off it. It's
almost mirror shine, best result I've
had with sanding/polishing.

Also scavenged the Sheriff beaver

help pimp this keeper.

I mean WTF man? It's a silenced sniper rifle that can be packed into a briefcase. It's like the best gun ever conceived.

Pistol wise I actually like the Glock series (Glock 19/26) or a nice 1911 (3.5" Officer model).

I guess you can tell I like weapons that can be concealed easily.

gerbalfarm September 18th, 2009 08:21

LOL what is the big appeal to some of these guns though? Personally the sight of a Famas makes me gag and M249 has always been sorta "meh" to me.

I can understand people liking m4's/m16's after all they're our guns (north america) and are what we're most familiar with. But what draws people to some of the more different guns. Do you like AK's simply becuase they're not an Armalite? Are P90's just that comfy to shoot?

mousqueterre September 18th, 2009 12:22

airsoft sig 552 because i can clip magazine on gun pretty fast reloding.......

P90's point a little faster to me then a conventional layout gun, as does the AUG; having the heaviest weight near the center or back of the weapon helps a lot. Not a whole lot but a little bit I've noticed.

I saw that and appreciate your answer, but not everyone answered with a reason as to why they loved a particular gun. So when I mention AK's it was more of me just wondering if that was the reason all the AK fanatics like them as an example.

What I'm really curious about is the reasoning behind peoples choices. Call it my curiosity into the human thought process. Thanks to everyone for their responses!

Why do people prefer BMW's over lambo's or vice versa, blonds over brunettes? apples over oranges?

How do you explain what attracts you, what really appeals to you especially when it comes to looks.

Why do you prefer a certain gun over another? Because it looks better? But why do you think it looks better? Because it feels better? But why do you think it feels better? Because it is more comfortable? But why do you think it is more comfortable.

You can't explain really explain it.

Tianos September 20th, 2009 00:29

G36c or k for AEGs

L96 for snipers

M92F chrome for pistols

Donster September 20th, 2009 00:55

I saw someone post saying that we should include why we like said guns. (warning, lots of bias here). btw, all links are SFW (unless guns aren't ok, but most of the pics are from Wiki).

Pistols:
H&K USP .45 Fullsize

Why, its fucking innovative. the recoil reduction system, the saftey/decocker (not like the glock BS with no official saftey). the SA/DA mode. its a great gun overall with amazing reliability and accuracy. plus, its german.

Bolt Action Rifles:
Mauser M03 Extreme Match Variant

Why? Not only is it German, but with a name like Mauser it rivals that of H&K in terms of accuracy, reliability and ruggedness. This is the Mauser response to tactical sniper rifles. I want to get one in .300 WM. how can you claim to be a bias German gun-whore and NOT own a mauser?

Semi-Auto:
M14

Throw on a JAE-100 stock and look out. Still, i love the classic look as seen here with the ACOG. i might do that setup myself and save the JAE stock for a remington 700 SA series (in 7.62 of course).

Assault Rifle:
H&K 416

I love this gun cause its the H&K response to the M4. aside from the supreme accuracy, and reliability, it is just a better gun compared to the M4. Plus its german and comes with an RIS. id magpul the shit outta it though.

WWII:
G43 which is tied with Kar98k

Why? Do i really even have to say why? I should hope not.

Cuddles September 20th, 2009 02:38

im liking it. what brand is it? needs a MOE grip as well. personally, im a DE fan myself, but that is only cause i use MC. keep up the good work though. looks like its going to turn out great.

Cuddles September 21st, 2009 01:23

It's a new gen JG.

I actually like the original 416 grip a lot better than the Magpul. I don't think I am going to do much more externally to it though... Maybe a trigger guard, some rail covers, and a silencer for an extended inner barrel? But that's about it.

Well, the KP-05 isn't overcomplicated in it's design. But it doesn't lose any intimidation for this, which is why I like that gun.

I don't exactly know why I like the G36c, I guess just because it's not an M4, or MP5 variant, though I don't mind mp5s G36cs just look cool to me.

And I've always been a fan of shotguns because of their power, but for design; specifically spas-12 and the M3 shorty because of the simplicity.
