G&G SCAR-L Upgrades
 

So, I'm having a bit of trouble finding a good thread which describes upgrades to the G&G SCAR-L, so I'm creating this to consolidate some of our collective knowledge about it.

If you have questions, post 'em. If you have answers, post 'em too!

Now, for my own.

I'm not sure which internals are/are not compatible. I've read Madbull barrell/hopup upgrades don't work well. I think this is because the hopup unit is unique to the G&G SCAR in the way it is made...

I have ordered a non-madbull hopup sleeve, so we'll see how that goes.

I hear the internal barrel is 6.03mm tightbore at 357mm long. Can anyone confirm this?

May I ask where did you get your G&G SCAR-L? Because I want to get one too.

I bought it from a retailer on ASC a few years ago.

It's a V2, tell me what you want and I'll make you a list of stuff that'll let it do that

Well, ideally I'd like to increase the velocity and effective range. Rate of fire is not that important.

Somewhere around 400fps would be fine.

reshim the gearbox
bearing spring guide
reinforced piston
mid power spring ( around 350 fps)
TK twist tightbore barrel

nothing else or more needed

The TK twist will only work properly if my gun is firing at 1 joule or less though, and I doubt that would be the case with a 350fps spring...

BuyAirsoft.ca has a lot of G&G stuff, but it doesn't look like they have any SCARs at the moment. You could ask them, they maybe able to get you one.

I got a G&G M4 from them, and I was very happy with the product and the service.

I'm pretty sure it isn't hard to find a STANAG type compatible double drum mag but would they work in the SCAR-L and is there any option for a double drum mag that would work in a SCAR-H? I kinda would doubt it as the H seems to use the same mags as an M14 and who would need a double drum mag on one of those?

The H uses M14 mags.

I imagine a double drum would work fine in an L...
