M4 Steel outer barrel

Hey guys, I got a Guarder M4 steel outer barrel that looks like this:

http://www.intrudershop.com/show_pro...product=42#top

If you scroll down to the left pic on the last row, you can see that the threads are pretty close to the front sight. I can put my flashhider on it, but I can not put a QD silencer over my flash hider because the bottom block of the front sight is block the silencer from being fastened on.

I was searching for the outer barrel extensors, and most of the are thread adaptors (ie. + to - or - to + adaptors).

I then came across a G6C adaptor that looks like this:

Would I be able to use this to extend the barrel so that I can screw on the my silencer?

The listing states that the adapter allows extension for silencer attachment. Details state the the item is 14CCW to 14CCW. I dont see why it would not work.

A cheaper alternative would be to use a dremel and grind off the portion preventing the QD suppressor from sitting flush.

For the attachment in the link, the outer diameter of the attachment seems to be bigger than the OD of a standard M4 outer barrel, so it might look a bit weird.

Also, for many of the CQB barrels ive seen, they dont seem to be so tight and short compared to the Guarder one that I have. Most CQB barrel have around 1" clearance from the front sight and I prefer the same thing. The only reason why I purchased the Guarder one is because they are the only company that makes 2 piece 14.5" outter barrels (besides Element of course, but i rather not go for cheap China clones). Here are some pics of the dilemma Im experiencing:

I see the predicament.

A dremel would still work. However I have another cheaper, simpler idea that does not involve grinding anything.

Do you by chance have a rubber a small O-ring? One that would per say fit snugly on the threading for your barrel? That way your flash hider would sit off set slightly to one side allowing the proper attachment and locking of the suppressor.

Yeah, I was actually thinking about the same idea- putting a spacer or donut ring at the end of the barrel so that the flash hider can stick out more, and hence, allow the locks/clips of the silencer to fasten. I dont have any spacers though, either rubber gourmets, or plumbing washers...

Since I really want my outer barrel to be slightly longer like the CQB barrels available (mind u, im building a MK18 mod0), i think i might just have to buy a 14mm- to 14mm- M4 adaptor and cut it to the appropriate lenght. But I dont even know if such an item exists.

Your best bet, buy the thread adaptor, and then buy another flash hider in the was you swapped. If that's a G&P flash hider, then you can easily find one for $20.

The problem is my guarder barrel has an extension for to make my outer barrel 14.5" and the piece itself cost $40...

I have a better idea. Why dont i just buy 2 thread adaptors, - to + and + to -

You can.. LOL

You see, im smart :)

Other than the horizontally challenged length of the guarder outer barrel, it looks wicked.. all steel construction.. but hell expensive...

Element makes a very nice steel outer barrel too.
A lot less $$$ though. And it's still good quality.
