**VERY NEW** To airsoft, help with lube
 

Ok, I will be picking up my first Green Gas pistol this week and went out to buy some lube.

I picked up some stuff from Solder Seal "GUNK"

It is called "Heavy Duty Silicone Lubricant"

It says it is good for

-locks
-striker plates
-hinges
-mowers
-drapery rods
-nylon slids
-bikes
-windows
-zippers
-virtually all moving parts

Right on the front it says

"Waterproofs and Rustproofs - IDEAL FOR METAL, RUBBER and WOOD

Do you think this stuff would be good ???

If not, any recomendations on what I will find at my local Home Depo, Walmart, Canadian Tire

Personally I'm a fan of weapons grade graphite for GBB's, works amazingly well in all temperatures and through heavy use.

Never heard of it, as I said, I'd like something I can get locally.

Silicone grease. Silicone oil. Lithium grease. All 3 available at almost any hardware store or hobby shop. What you want is silicone oil.

If you want local ideas, clarify your profile. Canada is a big place. Nobody here reads minds. You'd be amazed at some of the places where you can find supplies, and loval people will know exactly where to shop.

You can also use the search option, or check a thread in the Information section about the care and feeding of GBB guns.

From your PDF file: Pre test painted, varnished, lacquered or plastic parts for compatibility.

Stay away from anything containing petrolium products, or solvents, they can screw up plastics faster than you can say......AWWW SHIT!

3M makes a good silicone lube, no petroleum byproducts, but it's $25 for a spray can that would last you till the next ice age.

Or you can go to a hobby shop and get some silicone oil 10 wt. for about $4.

But you should only lube your gun sparingly. Too much lube attracts contaminants like dust and dirt and gums up the works. What you use in you gas should is sufficient.

Some guys get their GBB's totally juicy, and that's a waste and ruins performance and longevity.

I have the Airsoft Innovations Propane adaptor and it suggests to use a Light Silicone lube, that is why I am on this mad hunt.

As for the 3m stuff, any particular type to be specific??

Had one guy say he used Hopps 9 gun oil, but that just sounded wrong to me

You should get the 5 wt oil from ASC armoury meant for that adapter. It's all you really need.

As Macguyver said, hit a hobby shop and pick up some 10 wt. silicon oil. Put 2 drops on the valve of your propane tank, that should be good for about 10 mags.

looks exactly like the HFC special forces M9 , to me. I'd go with someone who's been in the airsoft game a bit longer, like Tokyo Marui, or even KSC.

Ah, no offence meant sir, but do not waste your money on Tippman junk. Go for a good KSC or TM pistol. You'll love them for a long time compared to anything of the sort.

Thats not airsoft. And not worth the money. GBB prices have gone down a fair bit over the last year or so, 250-300 will get you a great pistol. Dont waste your money on tippmann, its cheap and wont last long. Plus, its illegal to import, so hope you're buying from inside canada.

EDIT: Just saw the price on the tippmann, dont do it, not worth it at all. For only a little more you can get something 100x better like TM or KSC.

Appreciate the hint, but I have shot it and like it. LOVE the full metal feel.

Plus, if the Tippmann AS is like the PB stuff, it is built like a tank and will last forever.

This will be my first, but NOT my last.

Will need a nice AEG rifle next
