Goggles question, ANSI approved, etc.

Hi everyone.

I've searched around here for clear answers but I'm still unsure about a lot of thing. First and foremost, are "ANSI Z87.1" approuved goggles good enough to play with 400FPS AEGs with .20 BBs and are they approved by "airsoft seller/community (international) or whatever.

Second, are paintball goggles approved to play airsoft. Will a shitty full face with no brand name withstand a 400FPS shot with .20 BBs, cause I went to Sail and the geek seller said is goggles couldn't do 300FPS with Paintball ammos.

So I'm wondering what's safe and not. Those ESS Goggles or those Paintball goggles. My friends use them, I don't wanna make 'em blind. Thanks.

By the way, I've read the FAQs but my question is more "what is approved and what is not" rather than "who plays with what".

Thanks.

And, are those paintball one able to stop airsoft shots?

The Saint August 2nd, 2008 17:39

Name brand paintball goggles are quite capable of stopping airsoft shots.

It also depends on where you play, some places only allow paintball goggles.

As a rule of Thumb, JT goggles can withstand Airsoft at 400fps with 0.2s just fine, but remember, most paintball arenas which are used for airsoft will only allow paintball goggles on the field for insurance purposes.

Yeah, but I just wanna make sure those "Eagle logo paintball goggles thingy" are gonna keep thoses eyes to safety.

They're your eyes. I'd spend some cash if I were you to protect them.

Mind you, you always have your other if one gets shot out...

Brass Eagle is the brand. Anyone knows if I shot 'em at point blank and 400FPS .20 is a good test?

Lerch August 2nd, 2008 23:41

BE's will have no problem on the field.

Yankee August 2nd, 2008 23:55

Thanks for answer everyone. It's that this guy was freaking me out, sayin those goggle couldn't withstand a shot at 300FPS and blah blah...

Yankee August 2nd, 2008 23:56

...I meant 300FPS with paintball ammo...

SINN August 3rd, 2008 00:14

one is a bb, and one is liquid..two different things. read up and see what rating your goggles have..dont take the word of others for it..they are your eyes.

Yankee August 3rd, 2008 00:34

Sure would, but not sure if there's any rating for those "eagle brass" goggles...

Yankee August 3rd, 2008 02:37

Oh, and I also hope those Tippmann goggles are okay too. If anyone knows for sure, tell me.

Rest of them play with ESS profile goggles. I guess they can't go wrong, but the other players prefer full faces.
