Which MP5 model is it?
A new spring would work, but you'll need a new spring guide, shims, 7mm metal bearings etc.
What FPS are you going for?

EDIT: Go to Airsoft Parts .ca

effective and easy? systema m120 complete v2 gearbox.

If you go with a spring change it may possibly be dangerous as you run the risk of breaking your mechbox and you may need more power to crank back the spring (eg. a 9.6V instead of a 8.4V). More voltage = more heat = bad (at least from transferring my computer knowledge to something like this).

EDIT: Disregard above I thought you wanted something like an M120 or above spring (cause it's hard on your mechbox). A Madbull M100 or M110 should do the trick. Heck buy both they're like $10-15, you can't lose.

Stop giving out bad advice.

Especially at the FPS level he wants to be at (350), you don't need anything else than a $10-$20 spring.

xelamander October 10th, 2009 19:38

dont they already shoot 400+ out of the box? cause thats how they are being sold here in manila.

L473ncy October 10th, 2009 19:45

Yeah that's what I thought cause it attracts newbies who only care for higher numbers. That's why I posted what I did (since the spring is already pretty powerful the mechbox is surely going to break if the spring is upgraded any more).

Maybe I'm wrong though but they should ship with 330+ FPS at least (heck I heard they shipped out at ~370+ FPS).

If the OP is shooting less than 330 FPS I would probably take it to a gundoc to check it out and see if theres something wrong like the compression or something.

it's not bad advice. he didn't say anything about 350fps so shut up!

it's not bad advice. he did ask for the easiest which isn't a spring change but a drop in box so go suck on a spring!

try reading everything! not once did he ask for the common "cheapest" way to do it. a mechbox swap is by far easier especially if he's not comfortable or capable to swap springs.

so, how have I given bad advice?

Because a Systema mechbox is $250, and TOTALLY not necessary AT ALL.

You don't need bearings. Metal bushings are fine.

get yourself a tightbore barrel and a new hopup accuracy is what you should be after forget the spring upgrade mabey you should get your gun chronoed because jg guns shoot higher then most out the box

L473ncy October 11th, 2009 14:35

Again, OP: What are you getting right now?

The specs I'm getting say that the JG MP5A4 shoots 360 out of the box. If you want 350 (for CQB I presume) then downgrade to something like an M100 or M110.

If youre getting significantly less than 360 right now then take it to a gundoc to check it out.

Crunchmeister October 11th, 2009 14:43

My JG MP5 started out at about 360, then after about a thousand rounds settled nicely to a steady 340. Even though there's very little of the original JG gun left on it now, I still use the JG spring.

Until you can chrony the gun, I suggest you leave it alone if it's shooting fine. And once you chrony it, if it shoots 320 or better, leave it alone. It doesn't need to be upgraded.

My guess is that you haven't actually chono-ed the gun.

It is most likely hitting right around your target FPS right now.
