It depends on where in Canada you go. Every province is a little different, although that is slowly changing. Airsoft seems to be most prominent in Ontario in the east, and Alberta in the west. I've played airsoft in skatchewan, British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba.

Alberta is better funded, let's put it that way. Even in our small town, there are two large airsoft clubs. The average income here is higher, so you'll see more high end gear/guns. Our team as an example is has about ten team members, and many club members. Our team members currently all run PTWs and mostly real steel military gear. There are also large conglomerates in Alberta such as JOC and EAR. They consist of many large or prominent teams, and hold many "more serious" military simulations. Things that include explosives, vehicles, night vision, etc.

Saskatchewan has some good players and teams but unfortunately airsoft is quite small there by comparison.

Manitoba has a wide variety, but it's either well geared up, or not at all. And airsoft there exists strongly a few areas, but there seems to be a lot of dead spots.

BC has quite a bit of airsoft, but it seems to be ruled by pay weekend type places and badly funded players. There are definitely some solid teams there, but that's not the majority. They definitely have the best terrains to play in, in my opinion though.

I haven't played in the east, so I cannot comment.
