Looks like it would be hot in the summer. It does say it's breathable, but still I think it would be a bit hot under the summer sun. Maybe that's just me though. Would help keep you warm in winter though. As for protection, it would probably do the job. I mean one layer of clothing will protect you from bleeders atleast (unless someone has an incredibly hot gun), so that should work to protect you. I remember Wil used to have a small piece of camo clothe attached to his goggles to protect his mouth area.
