Hi there!
Before responding anything... this project started two years ago, when I bought my JG SA58... No sure plan of future Ares L1A1 existed that time (as I know...).
On the other side I wont ever spend 500 USD on that... plus the woodparts...
So that's all started with that:

Then I added a CASV (I liked the half retro-half modern long L1A1 idea, but wanted a half CASV-half wood shortie instead):

Now I'm at this point:

The main target (beside wood-RAS version) is this (but also with short handguard and no foregrip, or both... I don't know at the moment):

I'm great Vietnam ANZAC-fan, and it will be the pair of my M14:

The butt-end-plate and the caps of the handguard are casted from zinc:

The FAL-L1A1 stock adapter is made from two "L"-shaped aluminium parts:

Trigger guard fully custom made:

The rear sling mount is the original FAL one, but has a custom cilindical root...

The front grip is simply fixed on a cheapo ACM barrel rail:

Forward assist (?) already modified:

All woodparts are custom made from hickory. No stain will be applied, just lindseen oil and, if finished, beeswax...
Future plans:
-L1A1 rear sight (King Arms, in transit from frien in NZ)
-custom, 3 mm higher front sight
-custom or Ares fire selector (Ares must be modified, to be able to work)
-custom or Ares flash hinder (this looks similar to the photo, but looks ugly IMO)
-custom charging handle
-custom top cover
-cutsom magazine catch
-custom bolt catch-release
-front hanguard (half finished, I'll use it with or without the foregrip)
-Enfield/L1A1 sling
