I'm not against painting weapons (mind you I may never do it myself to anything other than real-steel hunting rifles, but thats just because its fun), I'm just against painting things that contrast with the environment you'll be operating in. Temperate climates require a temperate colour pallete, drawing from a desert one will make you stick out like a sore thumb (kind of like using ACU in an evergreen forest).
I don't play out west, and for that reason you won't find anything other than greens, browns, and blacks (and white for winter) in my kit selection.
