Well we're looking in to changing the software for more reasons other than spam prevention, but we're putting spam prevention as one of the necessary features of an upgrade.
Unfortunately, all of the admins are pretty busy for the next couple of months and don't have much time to look in to researching an add-on solution - and if we have time to do something like that, we're going to go right ahead and do the full conversion. Miles use to do upgrades very frequently, but he's been so busy lately that things are just starting to get outdated.
