First, I'll start by saying there is no such thing as a good clearsoft gun unless you're just looking to plink at home. Then, clearsoft is fine.

That being said, of all the clear guns out there (AEGs), the only one I would consider remotely fieldable is a Kraken. You can look high and low and you won't find anything else. Just take note that some people have great luck with their stock Krakens and they last for thousands of rounds without any issue. Others have them break before they go through a full mag.

The great thing about Krakens is they're TM compatible. So if anything breaks, you can generally get a replacement part pretty cheaply and easily (as with the other Aftermath guns, but the Kraken is the best of all of them). And you can also slowly upgrade them over time. Some guys on these forums have upgraded Krakens with metal bodies, wood kits, high end internals, etc and now have guns that are better than a stock TM that costs $600 new for significantly less money. However, this upgrading stuff is not for everyone. If you've never done it before, you could possibly do more damage than anything else. If you're mechanically-inclined though, you could be ok.

Now, I can somewhat understand your apprehension about guns, but dude, you're age-verified. Get a good gun. No cops will arrest you for having a black gun. The only way you'll get in trouble with a gun is if you take it out in public or do something stupid with it. And know what? You'll get in EXACTLY the same trouble doing that with a clear gun too. So really, your point is sort of moot.

Do yourself a favor. If you don't want to spend a bundle, just hit the classifieds and get yourself a JG gun. It will be nice and affordable. And if you end up not liking airsoft, you can probably sell it back for almost the price you paid for it as long as it's in good condition.
