You must be using cheap tape man. I use "renfrew" hockey tape and never had an issue with black off it...gloves are another story though. I use it in rain, snow, sleet , hail, and sometimes I use it in sun too

I also find the cheaper the tape the more dye does come off. As with anything I do a test before going crazy and slapping it on my AEG. I usually use a broom handle or something to test it first.

Always test before use. Sometimes the glue has stuff in it that can cause damage to the plastic. I cannot remeber what tape it was but a few years ago it left all kinds of glue behind on the abs plastic i was testing it on.
