dude dont use skateboard griptape. i skate and i know what that shit does to your hands, its not fun. and if you use gloves with it itll wear your gloves out and also it will badly scratch up just about anything it may bump against or rub on
you could check out the craft section at walmart to see if they have any of that adhesive backed sheets of craft foam. you can custom cut it to fit anywhere and its thin and pliable so it wouldnt really get in the way of anything and itll adhere to the shape of your gun providing a smooth comfy grip. ive used it for lightly padded cheekrests on a few of our guns and it works very well
