Converting M4 carrying handle sights

Is there any way to convert the carrying handle sights for an M4 to something without the ugly handle? I've got a few spares around and want to try this.

This is a common way of creating a cheap BUIS - simply saw off the carry handle and round out the rough edges and paint:

What about totally replacing it with another rear sight?
