My Viva Sten MK2S AEG Project
Silencer cover, pistol grip and sling courtesy of IMA-USA. KA 335 mm silencer courtesy of airsoftparts Wire stock courtesy of sofmilitary (uk) M4 length (363mm) TB inner barrel installed. Also have a 363mm TK Twist barrel ready to go as well. Still have a few fitment issues to clear up with the stock and pistol grip But I am happy so far. Going to upgrade some of the internals soon enough. My Thompson AEG is in the pic so you can get an idea of the length of the Sten.

Very cool! Always thought that wire stocks were a nice look but never thought of a pistol grip made like that! Bonus points for having it all nice and black for the photos it really increases the BA factor. Hope the fitment issues get cleared up soon enough, best of luck!

Thanks.
I also have a smaller Sten pistol grip and two Sten foregrips to make more configurations. The pistol grip in the pic is a wee bit awkward / oversized to handle (so far) and no I don't have tiny hands. The problem with the foregrips is that they are 40mm and so it the silencer (oops). I plan to cut of the foregrip base off and have it welded to the silencer. Then I just have to screw the foregrip into the base. The base is small enough so that if I use the silencer cover you'll barely be able to notice the base underneath that bulky canvas. When the project is done I should have upwards of four Sten MK2S configurations. I really have to thank airsoftparts.ca for the silencer. I really didn't want to make a 40mm ABS plastic silencer for this. Funny thing is that Viva Arms is coming out with a Sten MK2S shortly. But IMHO their silencer looks shorter than most of the RS Sten MK2S pics I have seen. Anyways I wanted an M4 length inner barrel and nothing shorter. Nice thing about the MK2S is you can shoot at VC as well as SS with it.

So how hard was it to fit the new stock to the sten?

Looks pretty close to the real one.
The stock comes off with a push of a button, right in the middle of the upper section there is a hole that a stamped steel cap that's held by the main spring pops into. Push in and slide the stock straight down. The hole on the airsoft version is way smaller but the principal is the same.

No, I understand that, but the new stock, appears to be real steel

I used 2 washers, a hex bolt and some loctite to fix the wire stock and pistol grips to the Sten.
I am thinking of re-tapping the threading on the sten so a larger hex bolt can be used. The current set up works ok but I am not 100% sure it'll hold up to a day in the field. |

while the body metal isn't pot metal...it's very mild steel and soft...if you're going to tap it for a bigger screw...strongly consider backing it with a thin nut.
Or back the existing smaller screw with a nut...if it isn't already, switch the screw over to a fine thread pitch screw. |

Have you been reading my notes? LOL. Your advice is 100% good. I changed the stock screw and added a nut when I got the Sten last year. Airsoft gun manufacturers have a disturbing fondness of crappy fasteners. The other issue is the rear "peep" sight part. For the RS stocks and pistol grips to fit that part has to attached to the receiver. The RS stocks are rounded at the bottom and to do not lock in as the square Viva / AGM stocks do. Two hex screws through the receiver to connect the peep sight pice should do it. Currently, the RS stock / pistol grip when attached doesn't have much wobble if any. But after an hour or two in the field my guess is it definitely will. Luckily I have access to a shop at work and the maint guys are quite enthused about helping out with the road blocks. I'll update the post as the project continues. |

I am sure some retailer will be bringing in VIVA MK2S Stens sometime later this year when they become available.
