Comtacs?
After seeing a teammate with his set of Comtacs today at practice, I've decided that I want a pair. The only pair I found in stock anywhere (besides the evil ebairsoft...bad experiences) was a "z tactical comtac I". I couldn't find a single review on them, so I was wondering, for the comtac users on here, what do you guys use? Where did you get them?

You're looking for replica Comtacs and not legit Peltor's I assume?

Z-Tactical is the electronics division of Element. The one branded as Z-Tactical is the latests version... it's got some improvements over the original Element-branded one. If you can, get the Z-Tactical.

I thought Element was having issues with the Chinese government...

Well they're out of stock everywhere else...$85 for the only pair I found, doesn't come with a PTT. Redwolf and Ehobby and all of them are out, so I wouldn't doubt that.
After tax and shipping, it would cost be about $109, acceptable price?

Have you tried playing with one on your head?
I tried and for outside use in the sun.... forget it! too damned hot. Inside, it's ok, but you really have to get used to the noise amplification/protection. Any BB ricochet sound like a hit. Buckle clicking trigger the noise cutoff... you have to get used to it. And IMO, it's not worth the visual candy. Unless you play with airbang grenades. I bought my Peltors for that.

MSA sordins FTW. 100000x more comfortable than the comtacs because of their gel ear cup ( got both of them, in real deal, no knock off). Go with the MSA sordins, it's la crème de la crème!

I definitely cannot afford real gear right now, besides, I need it to work with a Motorola Talkabout.

I have used the element comtac II's for a while now. Like Fox_111 said, it takes a whole lot getting used to. but when you do, you could start picking out really subtle sounds in the distance (i.e. footsteps in the distance, rustling branches). They are definitely not as good as the real ones, but all in all they are a good clone.
if you are looking for one, Toronto airsoft has one for sale (under Z-Tactical Comtac I)

Yeah, I bought Z-Tactical Sordins from eHobby; right outta the box they don't work. The radio funtion is fine, but the sound amplification? Nada. Nothing.
And paying shipping to send them back? Might as well buy a new pair.

That's why I was going to get them in country lol. I had a headset fail when I bought one from ehobby, "disappeared" in transit back to HK.
