G3 magazine storage
I did a quick search around the internet, but I couldn't find any direct answer. Does anyone own a G3/SG-1 and use STANAG magazine pouches for them? I ask because I'm thinking about getting one of them, but I don't really want to get a whole new set of gear just to carry the magazines.

during my investigation of getting facts for buy myself a hunting license and a rifle (Poly tech m305, which is going to be in 4-6 years maybe), I tried asking the guys over Milarms surplus store near me, where to find some, but he recommended me some 5.11 gear, these one; http://www.511tactical.com/All-Produ.../66-Pouch.html apparently according to him, these work quite fine.
so anything short of a med pouch, maybe bigger, is going to fit it

Everyone and their dog makes a 7.62 pouch of one kind or another. Thats not what hes asking about. He wants to knoe if the 7.62 mags fit a stanag pouch. Quick answer:No, why? Does a 7.62 bullet fit a 5.56 rifle? Long answer is if the pouch carries 3 stanags you MIGHT be able to fit 2 G3 mags, but dont count on it. The mags are deeper, wider, and a different length, so you may want to think of new poouches to go with your new gun.

You can fit one g3 mag into a stanag pouch, tight though. I own a g3.

I went with a set of shingle pouches in .308 http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...&highlight=308 but got tired of the tightness and the weight of molle so I got double mag pouches instead, it's MUCH more practical and fast to reload. http://www.tacticaltailor.com/762308doublemagpouch.aspx

+1. I just started going back to the velcro-lidded variety of double stanag pouches for everything; I do just end up carrying less G3 mags on me. I used to run Tac Tailor double 7.62's, but stacked G3 mags are frigging thick to go prone on. |
