I tried the p90 on the motor. An single did not light.

I'm trying a new arrangement and may try it again. So far they don't get enough light

Just for the sake of argument and theorycrafting... Would it be possible to mount a laser as the light source? Do they make a shallow enough emitter?

In theory this would give a maximum amount of "charging" to the tracer round in the smallest amount of time. This would be akin to a flash/photocell like the TM supressors employ (as far as charging the bb goes). Only a laser would have the benefit of minimum light bleed from the chamber. Unlike omni directional light sources like LEDS.

This is just me thinking out loud. I have no electrical experience. Possible?

Well it would suck battery life. And most places wouldn't have the space.

LEDs direct all there light into the chamber. Not exactly a light bulb. More along the lines of mini flash lights

a UV laser would be needed. they are dangerous, costly (compared to LED) and bulky.

ok time for an update on sabinn's P90

i have completed all the work and everything is working perfectly. though i was not able to run the LEDs off the motor leads due to a gearbox issue that may need to be addressed at a later time by sabinn. i wont go into details about the issues found in the gearbox as the HUTU is what's being discussed here. though it did eat up some time with trouble shooting.

i realize that it has been a while since this thread was last updated, and that i have been working on and off sabinn's P90 for a few weeks. i have been working back and forth from Whitby to Toronto for the last 3 weeks and sabinn took a week trip to Alberta on business and to look into his gearbox issues personally. so technically it maybe took me 3-4 days including trouble shooting to complete this mod.

now that everything is done and working, i'm going to start a new thread with a detailed step-by-step on what i did and how, along with detailed pictures and parts used.
