Ares Am-013 Amoeba feeding issues

took my gun out for the first time today, and I was having issues with bb's feeding into the gun. at first I thought it was my magazines (I had bought Ares' midcap magazines) and tried my friend's CYMA midcaps, and had the same problem, though less inconsistent feeding. It was pretty frustrating and I have no idea why it's doing this.

has anyone else heard or experienced an issue like this, with the same gun or not? I really like the gun and when it did feed it worked great, but it was very frustrating when i slap in a mag to shoot a guy that has no idea im there, and nothing comes out.

When you insert the mag, it could be your using too much/little force to seat the mag. Could be the mag lip (a little sanding to fix this), could be the too much hop (dial it back), could be the mag not seated properly on the mag catch(wiggle it untill it seats), could be the mag is too loose in the mag well (a little tape should fix this one).
There's any number of reasons for this

I will note, being both an Ares Amoeba 004 and Elite Force (Ares) Tavor user, and an Ares mag user, that I find the mags to feed flawlessly. I highly doubt that the mags are to blame. I find both my Ares guns feed perfectly fine.

That all said, I'm not saying that it's not the gun's or the mags fault; with the gun, check the feeding by installing a loaded mag into the magwell, and hold the mag, rocking it back and forth as you fire. If you find a spot that works for feeding normally, put in some tape or velcro to the spot that makes the magazine match the same alignment as your rocking. In theory, it's a few-cent solution to make it feed better. I needed to do that for my G36 STANAG mag adapter and my M4, so it's not an entirely unknown issue.

EDIT - Two things I forgot to add: 1) Zfurlong is right about not properly mounting mags; a lot of guns in general have some kind of issue with feeding if you don't give the magazine a good slap first.

And, 2) If you bought it from a reputable airsoft store, don't hesitate to contact the store's tech department; if it's a good company, they won't hesitate in the slightest to make sure your airsoft gun is in perfect order. If there's a defect, I'm sure they can fix it for you.

I did some experimenting. if I take the magazine out with the gun upside down (bb's are in the loading nozzle), it fires perfectly. I then added some tape to the back of the loading nozzle where it would contact the spring loaded detent on the magazine. it seemed to fix my loading issue, but the problem now is the tape gets pushed out of the way after one or two magazine changes.

Then file the tab a little that hold the bbs into the mag, then you will not need the tape as it wont have to move the catch as much.

I tried filing down a magazine. now it doesnt feed at all LOL. though if I turn the gun upside down with the magazine in, it feeds perfectly...

i also tried rocking the magazine forward and backwards, didn't help either.

You have to file the tab that holds the bbs in. If you look in the little hole the bbs come out of the little tab that holds the bbs in is what needs to be filed not the part on the top of the mag. or it could be the spring or too many bbs. Does it feed if you short load the mags?

I bought a prowin hop up unit and a new bucking in the hopes it would fix the issue...but to no avail. The store I bought it from said they were testing magazine compatibility but they haven't gotten back to me..
