SHS 1-piece cylinder head for AK/ver.3

So long story short; I bought one of these: http://airsoftdepot.ca/catalog/produ...oducts_id=3682

Tried to drop it into my CYMA ver.3 gearbox; but the little "tab" on the cylinder head was in the way. No biggie, I decided to shear off the tab and attempt to re-fit it. The holes still have trouble lining up correctly; and the inner grooves on the cut-out window (where the cylinder typically sits) do not seem to line up very nicely.

Am I boned here, or should I keep attempting to modify this thing to fit? There's no returning it now, but I'd still like to get some sort of performance for my $30.

If anyone else has had experience with these single-piece cylinder sets from SHS, please feel free to weigh in. I'll throw up some pictures upon request.

Did you read the peer review before buying?

Cat's out of the bag, that's me (may be a little presumptuous of me to have left that review without going the whole nine yards first).

Good sleuthing, though.

cyma aks use a v2 cylinder head, I mentioned this in another thread, I have encountered very few v3 gearboxes that actually use a v3 head. You can safely use a v2 head in almost all of them.

Interesting! I'll have to test that out.

I made one of these shs ver3 one piece units fit a ver2 gearbox just by using a burr in my die grinder to open up the cylinder locating holes. Never did try one in a ver3 though :-?
