I agree on that. And I can testify that they are not fire-retardant. I have a huge hole in mine now :P

I have 2 pieces of Condor kit that is still alive and kicking, the hooded fleece jacket and the tan chest rig. Both of which are good kit in my eyes. But for plate carriers I have to give it to Flyye-- they make an awesome product and they are reasonably priced.

I've owned rigs and modular pouches from Condor, Pantac, Flyye (and lots of CPgear).

Condor
+ cheap, accessible
+ large selection of pouches and the like
- molle webbing often isn't to spec; some pouches just don't weave properly (or at all in some cases)
- some mag pouches can be a very tight fit / require stretching or break-in

Pantac
++ amazing quality
+/- cheap/accessible on ASC classifieds... sometimes
- more expensive than condor

I've only got one Flyye item - a modular plate carrier - the quality so far is outstanding. Can't comment on their pouches as I don't actually own any.

I was actually blown away by the quality of the first Pantac pouch I handled compared to the Condor stuff I had previously been using.

For sure the load bearing rig (PC) you get should be as good as quality as possible... it will take all the weight/most abuse. Put on whatever pouches you can find - could be a mix of condor and whatever. Adjust, reposition and replace with ones that you like/work better for you.

As always, you get what you pay for... for me, I'll pay extra up front and use it for a long, long time. Buy cheap buy, buy twice -- been there, done that!

Have you looked into Eagle. Different Bird, but have heard many great things about their quality.

Eagle is the real deal. Flyye and Pantac are clones. Eagle have a lifetime warranty that you can actually get warranty on. Flyye and Pantac offer warranty, but you have to send it back to them, paying shipping, which is usually not worth the cost compared to buying a replacement item.
