I was thinking silicone caulking, but based on your comment now thinking a general purpose gasket maker (like this one).

Figure it would help further seal the barrel to the hop-up chamber

that's why rtv is a much better choice as it's far more temporary.

R-hop is the plain black material, it's the original material HS5 used. it doesn't like colder temps, so in canada we use the revised IR-hop material.

ER hop is an extended hopup patch (can be original R or IR material), this one requires extensive modification of your barrel window by cutting it larger, and the hopup nub arm and window also by cutting it larger.. ER hop is usually reserved for bolt rifles shooting 500+ fps lifting .4s or heavier ammo, the hardcore guys who use ERhops are shooting steel ball bearings in the states. I don't believe they shoot steel in games, just for target shooting.

you CAN use ER hop for lesser FPS BASRs, but you won't see results unless you start using really heavy rounds.

Seek more info regarding Rhopping by searching the forums at airsoft mechanics.

Word direct from HS5 was that ER-hop was unecessary even at 600fps with heavy rounds
Sooooo yeah. That. Lol

I'm not surprised.. but those guys over at ASM like to fuck with shit constantly to see if they can make something better.. including hs5.

Stealing an idea from the Hunterseeker’s Barrel Lockdown Kit was going to get some o-rings from home depot. Looks like the main purpose of the o-rings is to push the hop-up chamber onto the air nozzle. Would it also seal the barrel to the hop-up chamber, hence making using gasket maker redundant?

No.
When you start to familiarize yourself with the barrel group, it'll make sense.

Looking for input; instead of gasket maker to seal the barrel to the hopup chamber, use some heat shrink?

Heat shrink could be cut off and wouldn't be as messy as gasket maker.

Edit - complete off topic but Stealth do you have red Teflon wire? Only see Black on your site.

I typically dont use anything and the seal is perfect, but all you need is teflon tape.

Anyone ever try making their own split cone from a delrin 5/16" compression sleeve? I've got a box of them I was going to try it with, but no time to do so yet.

Installed this weekend, haven't crono'ed yet;

Had to remove the o-rings I installed on the hop-up chamber. The Mag/gun wasn't feeding BBs in semi.
