Just bought a TATM short arm, my first step in becoming an owner of some PVS-14's. I plan on getting a Norotos Dual Dovetail adaptor (Not using any J-Arm, whether it's Wilcox or Norotos), Wilcox Amber filters and Sacrificial lenses, and I'm also gonna pick up a real ACH to replace my Conderp one.
So yay. |

Conker should buy a collapsible metal detector to complete his IED sweeping kit.
If you don't find your knife with it, you will find plenty of gold to buy a new one. (o: CTX 3030 TV Commercial - YouTube

Yeah saw it a week or two ago on the MARSOC Facebook page, great indeed, although I was surprised to see them use the G3s as they are (theorically) only for the Afghanistan mentoring mission... but they probably know better than me, LOL

I was gonna save this kind of picture for when I had my PVS-14's, but I figured I might as well actually try this kind of picture first to make sure I even know how to do it :P
I'm swapping out my Condor MICH 2000 for a real ACH. My PVS-14's and Norotos Dual Dovetail adapter will come later, hopefully not to much later. Also thinking about picking up an FSBE II cover for my helmet but I'm not sure yet. |

Defenitely needs 14's Bruno! But still awesome.
EDIT: I answered my first question with google-fu. Any restrictions on holsters? I finally decided to stop enduring the torture of being a short guy running with a Safariland on my leg, it just doesn't work. I have a belt mounted Serpa, but I want something else maybe.

Force Recon and MEU
Hi guys please I have an issue I would like to discuss. Our team would like to do Force Recon which is placed under MEU jurisdiction years 2006-2010 or 2008-2012. I have been browsing internet for some hours to find out something about it but I was not succesfull as I would like so would liek to ask you for help. We have choosed we would like to do 24th Marine Expeditionary Units (SOC).
I have find out that they have Force Receon Platoon but in year 2006 1st and 2nd Force Recon platoons have formed MSOB (which we dont want to do) and on marines.mil i have read some report from year 2011 that 24th MEU Force Recon operators had some training excercise. I would like to ask if you know anytihng about it - if there are Force Recon under 24th MEU or 22nd MEU, what gear they use (I think it is FSBE II) and what organization is in that force recon platoon in 24th MEU (i hope it is not 2nd force recon which relieved 24th MEU). Basically I will be very happy for any info about organization of Force Recon units in 24th MEU and if they have a permission to use CIRAS vests. Thanks a lot for any help guys and i hope it is not kinda chaotic that i wrote. |

No Force Recon units are part of 24MEU: Force Recon companies are organically attached to 1st Recon Bn (West Coast) and 2nd Recon Bn (East Coast), which are part of 1st Marine Division and 2nd Marine Division respectively. 1st Marine Div is part of I MEF (Marine Expeditionary Force) and 2nd Marine Div is part of II MEF.
24 MEU is a special operations -capable strike force (MAGTF) attached to II MEF as well. Platoons from the Force Recon Company are attached to each MEU. The distinction here is that while they work alongside and in support/supported by (depending on the mission and whom you ask) the MEUs, they're not structurally part of them (they're still part of 2nd Marine Div and could be assigned elsewhere as required). The force they're attached to has no bearing on their equipment as they're all still part of Force Reconnaissance Company, so they'd have access to the usual MFR loadout including the FSBEII CIRAS, RRV and MBSS. edit: or yeah, just read those links Skeletor posted :P

Hi guys thanks a lot for quick answer. I have read some of that info you have posted Skeletor but both of you guys helped me to fill the empty space about force recon and MEU. I thought every MEU has its own recon and it is not relieved from recon battalion, now i know it so thanks again.
After some searching, discussions etc. we have stated with guys we would like to reenact 2nd Recon Battalion in years 2008-2012 so now we just have to work on experience, gear and trainings. |
