When the job requires a vest that sucks, yes the CF Tac Vest is without peer.

I got the same vest. Mine is practically new. No issues with it, the color (sorry, colour) is a little off from the Genuine CADPAT I have, but not too much of a difference. Haven't field tested it, but will this weekend at a major op.

For my needs it works fine. I can see someone in the CF having a problem with it because of the lack of mag pouches.

Wouldn't sticking them in your C9 pouch do the job?

You can fit 6 in the C9 pouch. I can carry a total of 14 mags in the TacVest with 6 in the C9 pouch, 4 in 2 of CP Gear's Wedge pouches and the 4 in the existing mag pouches. It's still a crappy layout with very restricted options, but you can carry a lot more mags.

I hear through the grape-vine, we (The CF) may be getting a new style tac-vest/plate carrier.

I had heard about the trial you mention a while back, what I am referring to was only brought to my attention recently. Who knows, they wont even cover the cost of decent boots for the regulars; let alone plate carrier's.

As for the boots, if you get a medical chit, etc the CF will buy you civvie boots.
lol. Ever try to get the boot chit? Almost impossible unless your a medic or a supply tech. Their solution for me was to tell me to cut up my insole until if felt comfortable. I ended up just buying them myself and have been doing this for the last few years.

That's what most have done. Buddy of mine though did a BFT with his GP boots on, ended up with wicked shin splints and his heels were rubbed raw. He couldn't walk for a couple days after and went to the MIR and came out with Magnums...and lots of Second Skin...

Talking to my physio guy, he ended up telling me that you don't need a chit to wear the magnums/swats. Depends on you're COC, if the guy on the top doesn't have a problem with it then you're good to go.

But then at the same time if some random pissy WO comes up to you and asks to see a chit, and you tell him "Well my boss let's me wear them" then I guess thing's aren't going to go to well for you.

Regarding new 'vests' for us, last I heard from the grapevine was that we were going to go back to a webbing based system. Something along the line's of the old style webbing, but with a fuck-tonne of new pouches so you can mix and match depending on what you're load out requires.

But seeing as how this entire organisation run's on rumors, well...take that as you see fit.
