G&G M-16 front end rebuild.
Hopefully I'm not to much of a newb but I'm trying to rebuild the front end of my G&G M-16 and I'm confused how to get a few parts apart.
I managed to take the upper and lower receivers apart and get the fore grip halves off but I'm unsure how to proceed. I'm mainly trying to install an RIS and when I had to rebuild my G&G M-4 CQB-S front end I just had to firmly fix the RIS onto the upper receiver threading but I'm unsure how to remove the delta ring on this one and the false gas tube seems to not have a way to come off. |

I had just seen that in here. I think it was from January. It's a bit of work but I believe you need to take the front sight off which is a pain in the ass iirc.

Well I managed to take off the delta ring but the front sight is a problem.... It looks as if it is stuck on with two rivets and I don't see a way to removed them without machining them out then how can I put it back on?

You need to use a Brownells Front Sight Jig Fixture to hold the sight and barrel and then use a drift punch and drive the pins out of the sight. After that there is a set screw on the bottom that needs to come out. If you have a sling attachment on the bottom you will need to drive the pin out of it too before you can see the set screw and Bob's your uncle.

lol Tools I have never heard of. : D Where would those be available and if I take it off can I put it back on? I'm almost considering starting a gun from scratch at this point.
I basically wanted to fit my new RIS onto my "standard" style M-16 just to fiddle around with it until I get an SR-25 to fiddle with. I very much want to keep the overall setup of my M-16 rather "stock" with the minor additions of a chin rail and a sight. |
