Recommended battery for the RS Type 56-1?

I'm planning on getting a 9.6v, although I'm also considered a 7.2v LiPo.
That's not the issue at hand though. (Although you're free to comment on that... I will be using it with both an m90 spring and the stock m120 spring.)

I've heard that the gun has some issues fitting some batteries, while others seem to come in and out without too much trouble.

So, for those of you who own one, which batteries have you had success with and which batteries have you not had success with?

I know people around here use 9.6V 1500mah Elite stick batteries.
I think they require some mods to the gun, but I'm sure Amos will know more about it when he finds this thread

I have a 56-1. I use a 9.6 1500mah Elite stick battery. It took some heavy dremel use to get the battery to fit. And it's still a pretty tight fit. lol

I use one of those batteries as well. Didn't have any issue fitting it, although it is tight. You can fit up to a 12V stick battery in that gun.

i also use 9.6v 1500mah Elite stick battery on my type 56-1. it's a tight fit but does not require any mods

I have used 3 intellect that range from easy fit to not so easy.

Current, I am running a 9.6 king arms that took a little persuasion. Basically you just have to keep twisting the battery slowly until you manage to get the cells and wire alligned just right to go all the way down the gas tube.
Or you could try the RS brand batteries.

I would assume any volt Lipo would fit, as you can get them in a variety of sizes and shapes.

8 realsword 56 users on my team use Elite or Intellect stick batteries.

The 56-1's give me a bit of problems because I fit a trigger master unit under the dust cover.. so they need to fit in a little bit more... and the batteries we got use 16 AWG wire to match the wire going through out the gun.

I am really lost here, I just got my 56-1 today, I just wanted to mod one of my mini 8.4 bats into a stick, but the cells are way to big to fit in the gas return chamber. Now the confusion comes from the fact that the hole is 17mm but the RS 9.6v 2000mAh specially made for this gun is 18mm or that's what it says on ehobbyasia. Amos, what are the specs of the intellect batteries that, you or your team use?

The intellect 9.6v 1400mAh do fit but you have to place the wiring facing the bottom left corner of the gas return chamber; then, it should fit very tightly in.

I ended up going with a 11.1v lipo and a triggermaster.

I recommend a lipo, regardless of whether you install a triggermaster.

I had to grind the hell out of my type 56-2 to get the battery to fit. Mostly around the gas cylinder.

There were sharp edges everywhere. I had to replace the heat shrink on two sticks because of the sharp edges.

Also the dust cover is sharp as hell. It will cut the heat shrink if you are not carefull.


RS need to learn the phrase "BREAK SHARP EDGES" and add it to all of their drawings.

I use a 7.2v 2200mah zippy lipo in my stock. Had to carve a bit of the wood away to fit it and the connecter. Then put the trigger master under the dust cover.

I would complain about the lack of battery space and sharp edges....

...but I'm too busy admiring my gun.

Regardless of its flaws - it's perfect.

BTW, I can't wait for the RS Type 56 GBBR! And the Inokatsu M16VN GBBR!
