TM M4A1 Barrel Wobble
First off: Yes I did search the forums, and I didn't exactly get an answer to my question. However I did learn some stuff (for once)
Alright, I am really unhappy with how fast my M4 has developed a barrel wobble, but I like to feed Tru's piggy bank so I'm gunna get a metal outer barrel. The thing is, I want a Guarder since it seems like they are the most highly recommended, but the only one that I can find around is the 2003 'two' piece barrel. Will this reduce the wobble? I thought it had to be 'one-piece' outer barrel, to reduce the wobble. I was also wondering, how does a metal body do anything towards reducing the wobble or is it almost just a cosmetic? Thanks for the help.

quick answer: Yes.
A metal body will reduce a lot of wobble as well. If you have just an outer barrel alone, you WILL still get barrel wobble. If you replace just the metal body and you keep your outer barrel screws tight, you'll have very minimal barrel wobble. Throwing in an outer barrel into the mix and you'll have a long lasting solid setup. |

I'm refering to the one on the top, the bottom one is cheap but i dunno how effective it is.
K, so with the metal body, it only comes with that right? you still have to use your plastic upper receiver? How much do upper receivers usually run: a) Most Highly Recommended upper receiver b) Runner Up upper receiver Thanks.

Comes with what?? M4 metal bodies are sold by the set. Both the upper and lower receiver, hop up unit and some other parts come with the set. I've only used Systema bodies for my normal Armalites. They can be a pain to install the mechbox because of the tight fit but I've not had any problems with them. They run about $300-350 a set.

Alright, I was a bit confused as to what actually came with the metal body, I thought (in my stupidity) that metal body did not include metal upper receiver. I am getting a Hurricane M4A1 metal body since I prefer the working furniture.
Thank you everyone for your help. I may now rest assured that Tru's wallet is being fattened for a good cause.

I've only seen my sr barrel and a convertable but without mods to the convertable barrel I couldn't screw the ris brackets right to the barrel itself. As for the barrel wobble I think the best bet is to either mod yourself or get someone to mod the chamber block itself since that's where I notice the real problem stemming from. |

no.
The outer barrel for SR16/M4 RIS is different from a non-RIS M4. There are additional tapped holes drilled in to allow the mounting of the RIS brackets. You can use the Guarder outer barrel, but you'd have to tap a hole to secure the RIS from moving... unless you don't crank hard on your vert grip, in which case, you can get away without tapping holes. Otherwise, you'd have to switch to a real steel or G&P RIS unit to get away from that nonsense since the Marui RIS is actually not built like a real steel version. The way the Marui mounts is unique. |

From what I can tell from the bottem picture, that is the middle piece of the three piece TM barrel for the M16 or M4. Those holes are where the screws go in to attach the other pieces of the barrel. Correct me if I am wrong but if you have a stock TM Armalite then look at the long middle barrel piece hidden by the hand grip and that is the piece that is under it.
Or did you already know that? |

Kind of a threadjack, but do you know who in Toronto could do those chamber block and outer barrel mods that Vodnick put up on the Doctor's Corner?
