Kraken & Sl-8 Projects

ok so i spose im finally ready to show my kraken and sl-8 projects as that when im finally done with the last few little upgrades theyll still look exactly the same
so here it is before i started it. just spray painted the beige plastic furniture

and here it is when im finally done with it. i did have a full metal front set coming in the mail for it over a month ago and had to file a complaint on it to at least get my money back so i guess im just stuck with the kraken front end which really isnt that bad on mine. its accurate anyway. it has a G&P pistol grip and metal receiver, CA stock wire, sanyo large type 8.4 1800mah battery, metal G&G lower handguard retainer, action ak74 wood kit, JG metal hi-cap mag, and a king arms (i think) akm flash hider. gearbox upgrades so far are few. systema metal bushings, G&P "explosive" piston head, and prometheus shims coming. and it weighs just under ten pounds

i didnt like the grip that came with my ak74 wood kit. as you can see the wood is a darker shade than the stock and handguards, it just didnt look right

and now here is the bastard ak i built my brother out of spare and extra parts. it has the krakens reciever and stock wire, a CA ak74 stock, G&P railed handguards, UTG rail covers, a cheapo fore grip, metal 70 round mystery brand mag, D-Boys gearbox, an ak74 grip i modded to fit, and junk front set, top cover bolt assembly, dust cover, trigger guard, and selector lever. it runs on the jg mini battery that came with my ika zuchi/dragon and it has a foam sleeve around it to eliminate movement and knocking noise inside the stock.

it shoots ok and hes very pleased with it so thats really all that counts
before i actually started building his i put the krakens plastic furniture on it that i had then painted red even though they kinda look pink in the pics, like just to see what it looked like

and now here is my first ever aeg project. a BE sl-8
the BE plastic body is quite thick and sturdy. it has a custom built Echo1 gearbox which i am no longer sure of all the parts except for the king arms POM piston and G&P bearing(washers) piston head i put in it. it takes a pretty powerful battery to run it. i have to use my lipo battery in it which i cut a custom battery compartment into the inner stock to fit the battery and its extra wires. the gearbox shoots at over 390 fps but i dunno if it makes it into the 400 range. it shoots very smoothly and quietly. no high pitched gear sound, all you hear is "ssh-thup" which makes it perfect for stealth. it has a TM stock wire and guarder hop up sleeve. on the top rail i have D-Boys Rail covers and a G&P dual offset rail with junk laser sight and blinding tac light. i figure hey... they work, they do what theyre sposed to, and if they get shot... no big deal right? and i also have some craft foam from walmart over the cheekrest for padding. also cut the long metal sniper barrel pretty short as the inner barrel is not that long. this way i can use my sl-8 as an assault type rifle just as any other m4/m16 or ak

i think you guys would actually be suprised how nice it turned out

... That's disgusting.

You should have just cut the fuse and soldered the wires together like everyone else does.

Yet another failure.

yea i know i coulda done that but im not an electrician nor do i have soddering tools. shit if i knew how itd been done, but its not like its even visible at all with the top cover on. and its just put together with some junk and spare parts.... ya know.. its not like a serious aeg or anything

its a d-boys "kalash" gearbox with what they called a "vfc style fuse". what id like to know is ok its a d-boys gearbox marketed specifically for in an ak so then in a d-boys ak where the hell do they put that fuse??

and on my kraken i just got the shims and put them in. all the gears seemed to line up evenly and theres a lot less play back and forth inside the gearbox but it still makes that loud dry RRRRRRRAAAA!!! noise. i probly didnt shim things perfectly but it seemed like it was right.... i dunno maybe something is still off a little bit or its just a normal noise.
wish i could record it and post it for somebody to listen to

i know the sl8 is sposed to be a sniper rifle, but my ak is an inch and a half longer in total gun length and its inner barrel is a lot longer too. i just kinda use the sl8 as a semi auto assault rifle basically so the hi-cap doesnt really bother me other than the fact that its clear

i was actually thinking about getting the magwell mod to use m4 type mags in it

i think i got the shimming done ok in the gearbox. and i now have a vortex bearinged metal spring guide and an ak74 flash hider coming from ebaybanned. also i got a piston with all metal teeth for in the sl8 since im running the lipo battery in it and out of it ill take the king arms pom piston and put it in the krakens gearbox
