GHK AK74SU Gas Blow-Back Rifle
Hey all just decided to do a quick review for those looking into this.
I have the Kalash Version, if you want the best out there grab the VFC version, essentially you'll have a better look and feel. However I want to focus mainly on the GHK parts itself as that's what matters. To make things simple, out of the box it preforms well, however the magazine likes to cool down quite a bit so that's a turn off. Items to replace, if you're getting the drop-in kit I suggest you avoid getting the stock parts from the beginning. Plastic Bolt (cracks in two after couple hundred rounds) Plastic Hop Up (it's plastic....piece that releases BBs breaks easily) Bolt Carrier (It'll mash itself up eventually, esp with an aluminum bolt installed) As of now I have the steel bolt carrier and hammer coming from DaytonaGun which is costing me about $230CAD not including taxes/duty. Aluminum Bolt and Metal Hop Up are costing me about $130CAD. Other upgrades? Well the inner barrel and hop up rubber are the same as ones you'd find in an AEG so you might as well switch'em out for a tightbore and maybe even a longer barrel and cover it with a PBS-5 silencer for increased accuracy/better groupings. I have two propane magazines and one CO2 magazine on the way as well. Stay tuned. Last edited by aZn_triXta07; March 5th, 2009 at 15:53.. Reason: fixed links |

lol.. that looks like some quality stuff...
No wonder Daytonagun is making good versions of it... Why doesn't he just product his own kit? |

Links fixed.
DaytonaGun makes his own Classic Airsoft guns, they are all too pricey and there's not enough interest in Canada. If people learned to stop hating on the hose than the cost of these landed could be just a bit over PAR of what the cost of one would be. Internals are all steel, all personally tuned and built by Justin, they don't jam nor will they wear out ... unless you crank up the PSI to 200 lol |

Hmm.. does the bolt carrier have enough clearance to be re-enforced with something?
Also what does the stock bolt look like?

As far as I know there are no drop-in kits for Justins stuff except for the M249. Quote:
As for the stock bolt carrier I think if you smoothen out the edges in the receiver and maybe add a rubber pad to cushion it, it might reduce the stress on the bolt carrier but you'd lose the nice clingy clangy noise when you shoot the gun :P Last edited by aZn_triXta07; March 6th, 2009 at 01:38.. |

Do you need to make an irrevesable changes or is it a drop in/drop out?

Red Noir ordered a kit a couple months ago, he currently has pictures of the entire gun with the internals installed, probably PM him would be some help.
As for irreversible changes, someone mentioned on ASC, that the outer barrel needed to be cut a bit short for the hop-up unit. However this shouldn't affect you changing it back to an AEG. I've got an RK01s, maybe we can compare it sometime. Btw, how did those VFC mag shell mods go?

IIRC, you have a regular RK01, not the "S". Not that it matters much. I think they're both exactly the same (receiver wise).

I didn't bother, I don't have the know-how to do so lol.
Wonder how Red Noirs is holding up, judging by how long my internal bits held up I'm sure he would be getting upgraded parts too. Cutting the outer barrel is only for the full size guns. Comparing should be interesting, RA-TECH parts are on the way ... just hope that Justin already has those steel parts ready to ship out. Quote:
