SRC M4A1 problems

Can somebody tell me how to properly remove the gearbox from my new SRC M4A1? It doesn't want to come apart too easily. I removed the stock, the pistol grip with the motor and the 3 metal that go through the plastic part of the receiver. I didn't take the barrel off although I suspect that I may need to.

Also...anybody have a good method of removing stuck bb's from the barrel?

I would be very grateful for any help.

Regards
Randy

Thanks for the reply....wow that was quick?
The bb's are stuck real good...unjamming rod won't work. I was thinking about removing the barrel and heating it a bit with a low power heat gun.

No problem. I'd advise against heating your barrel, it will probably warp. Even if it might be a millimeter, it will seriously affect your accuracy and probably cause more jamming problems. Maybe take the barrel out and use a aircompresser and try to blow them out? I can't really think of anything else other then getting a new barrel, good excuse to upgrade?

What type of bbs are you using? Like most airsoft ARs you can pop a body pin and split the lower & upper then take the barrel out and poke the bb out of the barrel

If it's not coming out with a unjamming rod, taking the receiver apart isn't going to change that lol

If you are having trouble removing the top receiver, I believe it flips up (like ICS) instead of sliding forward. Then you can remove the gearbox and inner barrel.

You need to remove the mag catch first to take apart the upper and lower. It may require a bit of force to get the upper over the bearings/bushings (depending on the gen) but that should be all thats holding it. then the barrel and hop come out as one and it might help.

Unfortunately they aren't like the ics, found this out after i got the src one and spent 3/4 of an hour doing a spring change haha

ok so the gun came apart fine (thanks all for your help), and I got all the bb's out with no problems. Now a NEW problem....got the gun back together again and now when the trigger is pulled the motor turns an I can see the piston moving in the feed but there is no "pop" and the bb's only dribble out the end of the gun. What is your guess as to what is snafu in the gearbox??

Also, when the gun was working I noticed that the hopup really didn't change the flight of the bb whereas the SRC G36 had an obvious effect. Any ideas as to what gives with this??

Thanks all
Randy

So, I got the gearbox apart and found a few things.

1: The teeth on the bottom of the piston were stripped away spreading shavings all over the gearbox. Why would that happen and how can I prevent it from occuring in the future? Is there a good aftermarket upgrade that I should be looking at for replacing the piston?

2: The seal between the piston head and the aluminum cylinder no longer forms a seal. Is that likely the o-rings or is something out of spec?

3: My big worry when putting this puppy back together is making sure the shims are correct. Is there a good guide that somebody could point me to for this?

All the best
Randy
