I have a question for you guys who using the DragonRed PRC-148 MBITR radio.
Do you guys use PMR on these radios? Because if you are that's kinda wierd since it only allows 12.5/25 kHz in channel step and you need 6.25 kHz to be able to set the proper PMR channels. Can someone confirm this.

we were told that the programming cable would allow for the use of the 6.25kHz stepping,
and since PMR is the european range i don't expect many people to comment on it here (would be like asking if a radio unable to use FRS would be a problem in europe) |

I understand. But a cable won't change the actual ability on using a anther stepping so then I take it as the answer is No.

we were told that it would allow the use of the 6.25kHz stepping, hence allow PMR use..
basically a 'when the cable comes you'll be able to use that stepping' ploy, which is more like a bait-and-switch to be honest, promise something without really following through. but no, no-one is using it on PMR frequencies right now (well, i can just about use it on PMR channel 1, it's close enough for me to communicate, but it's not great) I hate bl**dy PMR, i don't know why they use such a retarded stepping.. also i'd just like to apologise to Huang, i thought he was part of DragonRed rather then being a stockist of DragonRed. |

Well if the radio will allow 6.25 kHz stepping it will work as some or all you guys maybe already know.
Like some of you in this thread knows I am working on a MBITR solution myself and I'm going to order the things needed for it this weekend or next week. What I want to do is make this available for more people but then I would need you guys who would be interested to give me some info on what You need, want and currently use because I must make specific for each and one of you. I'm a guy who only use real stuff as much as I can because I personally hate replicas of things, and I'm running with real MSA Sordin Dual Commo setup, Davies/TEA TASC-1, real Thales Broadband and Thales Whip antennas. I've been modifying radios, PTTs and stuff like for maybe two years so I know some of it and now it's time to go to next level, by making a shell as the primary radio setup! So everyone who would be interested in a MBITR solution with Spartan MBITR PRC-148 shell (built in good and stong plastic), real U-183 connectors, real Nexus U-94 PTT with real U-229 connector and UHF (PMR channels will not be possible due to hard to find a radio that allow 6.25 kHz stepping and fits in the shell) and/or VHF (dual or single band) radio (will be programmable using cable to PC), also real Thales VHF antenna will be available for those who would be interested (antenna in picture below) please let me know ASAP. This is how it'll look:

what are the specs on the radio you'll be fitting inside?
how will the recharging be conducted (hole in the body, take it apart or contact charging) also, will the display of the donor radio be visible? depending on price and answers i'm interested in 2 at the moment. but i'll need hooking up with some accessories, not easy to find a TASC 1 w/Nexus PTT here.. |

It'll be either a Puxing or a Yaesu radio depending on what you want to use band vise.
The radio will be easy to take out and will not be perm mounted in the radio shell. Display with be seen when taken out same with charging. I can't get you any real MSA Sordin nor any TASC-1 but real Nexus U-94 PTTs I can or if you want I can get replica U94 or the 'TEA' Maritime/Universal PTT. Same with MSA Sordin/TASC-1. Or if you order yourself from Ebairsoft. Everything will be adjusted after the specs You want of course.
