yes, it's called short-stroking. it's being done on both WE and WA systems. they keep pushing for stronger recoil with heavier parts, and this causes the fire rate to decrease quite a bit while dramatically increasing gas consumption. the only way to get the fire rate back up is to short-stroke the carrier. for the AR platform this means that the bolt catch feature no longer works. the most ridiculous short-stroke i have seen was done on a WE M4 where the carrier only went back far enough to reset the hammer (maybe 1 1/2 inch travel). it got the rate of fire up around 20 bb/s. i personally think the trade off is not worth it. the parts wear down faster and are more prone to breaking, and the bottom line for me is that it is unrealistic. the whole point of GBBRs is to have realistic function, and for me that along with reliability comes well before recoil.

Hmm, Might have to add that to my parts order for my AK.
Just got my WE AK PMC today, really nice ![]() Curious if anyone would be up to doing a receiver swap? Buffer tube for a folding stock? |

Hey there.
Just noticed with my WE ak that the bottom of the receiver where the triggerguard/mag release lever screws into bends out over time. The metal they used for the AK's body is incredibly thin, kinda worrisome ![]() |

They used steel for the trigger guard and receiver so I'm not sure what else you expect? Titanium? At least it's better than aluminum or pot metal. The thickness is the same as the real thing. I guess they could have made it thicker but that would take away from the realism. You have to understand that the real AK is built similar to this. Don't expect an M4 carbine type of build. AK's are built cheaply for a purpose. |

Please, I don't need to be lectured like a child on the 'cheapness' of an AK. I understand that much, but I'm certain the gauge of steel they use on the real AK is still a good bit thicker than what WE has used. I don't care if the gun is dimpling in or out or shit like that. I'm just concerned whether this would affect the seal the magazine makes with the loading nozzle over time, and I'm curious whether anyone has experienced any issues with this.

In addition to WE wood, the trigger group upgrade from RA tech, I've already done the RS fire selector mod, it is a pain in the bum. And turok, your grip says "US" on it - is your gun supposed to be a "replica of a replica" made with US law compliant parts? Use a real Russian grip, damn it. :P
