Oops I forgot to mention the two stock options... One is a fold to side stock and another is a retractable fixed stock (that resembles a UBR). Ok, so to re-iterate

No, it's definitely a V2 w/ motor cage, and ARES style front mounting threaded holes, quick change spring cap and spring guide, bearings only on the bevel gear, and microswitch instead of an open contact switch.
Although it's supposedly not produced by ARES. Stolen from Scuffer's review on Arnies: This is my one main concern with the PTS Masada. I really wish it had been a V3 proper. I guess we'll just have to keep the quick change spring options at least a little conservative

hmm maybe it was changed since I did my research. Because then it was stated as a modified G36 Ver3 mechbox. I would assume the other info I have is still correct?

VFC SCAR VS Magpul PTS ACR! Which is better? Which real steel would be better? Last edited by zollen; June 24th, 2010 at 21:18.. |

As far as the AEGs, damn the VFC SCAR is a beautiful piece, but fuck, it's a real pain in the ass to open up because of the selector design. Just 6 more little fiddly pieces that you have to deal with in addition to the standard grip-as-motor-cage that is common to all standard V2 mechboxes and makes it a lot more inconvenient to test the mechbox before putting it back into the gun. Additionally, the SCAR basically only has barrel lengths as optional accessories, or you could get a SCAR-H to start if you want something really different. This is the main thing for me. The PTS Masada is incredibly easy to work on internally, yet it has very similar controls to an AR15 pattern rifle (read, SCAR too), and they're ambidextrous to boot. I've always wanted something very much like an M4, but easier to work on and change as I wanted, and with ambi controls (I'm a lefty). The quick change spring is just icing. The Masada has waaay more external modification options than the SCAR as well - the barrel, handguard, stock, and lower receiver having been announced so far. Here's hoping for a Massoud to rival the SCAR-H, eh?

It's supposedly going to be released in black, FDE and green (I'm not sure if it was ranger green or OD)

The pts masada looks a lot like the acr from the 2008 shotshow as opposed to the original masada. I wonder why bushmaster decided to get rid of the flip front sight for 2010. I personally prefer to have no flip sight since it gives the user options.
Other than the sight, the brass deflector thing and name does anyone notice any other differences between the pts masada and the current acr? |

Soldered motor contacts, bearings only on the bevel gear, microswitch assembly for the trigger, polymer piston, selector switch gears..... Looks identical to ARES, probably is manufactured by them. ARES/STAR did manufacturing for some of magpuls other stuff too didn't they? namely the plastic green label Pmags.
