if you plan to shoot below 400 FPS (m120 and below) then I recommend Prometheus soft type bucking. If you plan on shooting harder than that, then get Prometheus hard bucking. SRC is really good, I actually have a couple of metal body's and I know for a fact they're better than other AK clone bodies I've seen other than the RS. Get AV'd
I mean get RS if you have tons of money to throw around with the upgrades, but if you just want an AK then SRC AK's will do. I still recommend both hehehe those are the only AK's I'd get for sure. Clone and Real Sword

If you press hard on an Element AK body or G&G, or ICS . It feels like it will bent lol, but with SRC AK body's, they're hard and rock solid (thickness of the body is superb).

Is clone and SRC the same company? Where can I find SRC guns in Canada and not shootsoft? Will ehobbyasia ship AEG's to Canada? The RS seems reasonably priced. But you guys say it is hardly a difference from the SRC 3rd genand better to put money into internal upgrades? |

Ehobby will not ship to Canada (that's only for retailers here in ASC)... You can get SRC guns from www.007airsoft.com owned by ken. Like I said earlier he's the one that brought the SRC here in Canada. Shootsoft get's their gun from him, im pretty sure. When I say clone, I meant kraken AK's or DBOYS, CYMA.... List goes on. Top quality brand right now would be SRC gen. 3, G&G and ICS. For superior brand that would only be RS. SRC AK are TM compatible. You can get SRC from that website I gave you, the only thing is their cansoft version (means plastic receiver).
I cant say TM AK's are top quality brand since their overrated and pricy, when I say overrated I meant you still have to upgrade a lot of parts. TM AK body is not metal, but plastic. Only upgradable to higher FPS if you change some parts in their gearbox.

I know TM's are not that great. My m16 was TM and i was unhappy with the plastic. That is why the AK's really appeal to me I guess. Sorry, I was under the impression from their waiver that 007 only sold to military and police. Can I order a new metal lower receiver to replace the plastic one? if so will the TM version of the lower receiver work?

You cant order or buy metal receiver (restricted) outside Canada, thats why we have cansoft version airsoft guns... Yes the TM ak lower receiver will fit SRC without any modification. 007 sells to civilians too, please do more searching. Ken sells cansoft version airsoft guns.

Thanks again for all your help cjboi and Gunny_McSmith. You guys helped me out, and now my choices seem much more clear. 007 was the first place I checked sadly enough, when I saw their disclaimer it was new from last time I thought it meant no civilian sales. I should read more next time....
What are your thoughts on classic army? good, bad, ugly? |

CA is known to make rock solid internals.....

I only like made in Taiwan guns (better quality). CA is in china, CA's internals sucks IMO. You basically have to replace most of their internals. Piston strips fast, piston head (bad air seal), Cylinder head (one O-ring, means not good enough air seal) and their nozzle sucks nuts, but they have good gears (solid). CA's externals are pretty dang good too aside from their gears. CA guns are quite abit more expensive than G&G and SRC.

if my gun is rated for 400 fps exactly, should I go for the soft hop up?
|
|
September 26th, 2010, 01:43 | #27 |
I always like soft bucking better than hard one. I mean if you plan to have longer barrel and more fps Then bore up kit would be for the set up w/ hard bucking.

I see that the SRC RPK has a 510mm inner barrel. Will the 509mm Prometheus tight bore barrel replace the RPK's 510mm without any problems?

and also... achieving 400fps exactly is really hard, since FPS depends on alot of things..... Your best bet would be to buy a 400fps rated springs, and buy another one rated for a slightly lower fps.... and try them.... |

The SRC is rated for 400 fps. Would it be cheaper to also buy the hard hop up instead of a lower fps spring? I would want to stay at around 400 since that is the club limit on most full auto's.
