This is good intel! I was in contact with Yshon directly and they told me it was a Kenwood plug lol.

Once I confirm this with my distributor I can order in a variety of different headsets that would work.

Agreed, it is a solid radio for the money with more features than most Airsofter's will even understand how to use. Lots of positive reviews on sites dedicated to amateur radios. But the advertising is a little misleading, it is not a true dual frequency receiver. It claims to allow you to monitor two channels at once, when really it just has two "Priority" channels. This means it just constantly scans both until one of the channels breaks squelch; blocking the other channel. So you cant truly monitor two channels; the way you can with some higher end radios that have a dual receiver. This will mean nothing to most, but for some people it could be important.

Another tip, get a better Antenna tuned to the Freq. that you operate in. Although the OEM unit that is provided with the radio is fairly decent, substantial gains can be had by purchasing even a cheap $20 antenna off of ebay that is tuned to a tighter band of Frequencies.

One other note the KG-UVD1P, transmits VHF@ 5W and UHF@ 4W respectively.

Wouxun has a new model called the KG-UV2D, but it is just a slightly different body on the KG-UVD1P. The Wouxun radios are FCC certificated in the United States, so they are actually sold locally here (but I still love 409 shop).

Programming is pretty simple, but one small issue (very small) is that when programming via the radio, you can put spaces and dashes in the channel name. You can't do that with the software. So I just adjust the way we want with one radio and I have a clone cable to clone them off to each other after that.

i just got my Yshon at-2118/3118 today cause i was told by a friend the the motorola pin would work from my PPT turns out it doesn't so i'm looking for a new PPT too.

does any one know if the is FRS friendly and if so how to program for it instruction book doesn't help much for that.

Talk to techseller. He has the u94 and the round swat ptt to go with your headset.

Tell him which radio you got so he knows which connector to send you.

I'm assuming you got the radio from frank and you have the cavalvy headset.

Wish I did It is not compatible with Moto 1Pin unfortunately. See kaiu's post. We are in the process of bringing in some headsets for this model.

If you do decide to use the VHF frequencise, and not just the FRS ones. Use the DOT channels. They are temporary assignment and they will not cause interferance to any public safety users. These are good choices as they are not used by any public safety groups anywhere in the U.S. or Canada. If near a mall, they maybe used by stores etc.

Vhf, does have better range while outside, UHF will have better penetration inside a building, and car to car. Realistically at field distances any 2.5 watt + radio of either type is ideal.

From what i've read around UHF radios cannot broadcast on the same frequencies as a FRS/GMRS which is what i was responding to

Any UHF radio that broadcast in the 462-467Mhz range is capable of broadcasting on FRS/GMRS channels.

Any of the Baofeng/Pofung UV5 series will do great justice. I have a BF-F8+, part of the same series, and the performance vs cost is really exceptional.
