Of note, since someone already asked me, the XM109 does NOT fire the same 25mm as Bradleys/LAVs, even though they both use HE loads.
XM109 fires 25x59mm M242 (25mm on LAVs and Bradleys) fires 25x137mm very definitely not the same round.

I don't see why people are so scared of hot guns. Where I play there's an M700 that shoots at about 600 fps, and nobody complains. You just really have to watch your engagement distance. Meh.
And I think I just found my dream gun. Doing.

I think at 700 FPS, you'll need an FAC to own it. Anything over 500 FPS you'll need an FAC last time I checked!

I think everyone keeps missing this sentence "This M82A1 is capable of using RED GAS and TOP GAS with maximum power potential of over 700fps for certain markets (power will be reduced in accordance with local market laws)."
I hope this means that there is some way to regulate power, That would come in handy........ Play at 450 or 500 FPS and Gear it up to 700 for plinking....... Serious plinking but plinking none the less.......

Exactly Biff. POTENTIAL and WILL ONLY SHOOT AT are two different things. That's still hefty, but I agree with nic_s. If you have someone playing with a hot gun, that's fine, just make sure they're keeping safe engagement ranges. Someone who's got a Barrett airsoft gun is likely gonna have the common sense (we're hoping) to know to keep engagement ranges to the maximum. Besides, I would say hotter guns are fine if the player is experienced and knows what the fuck they're doing. I wouldn't let some n00b run around with a 500fps AEG or anything, but hot sniper rifles are fine IMO... In experienced hands. Since a hot assault rifle is not too cool. It's hard to keep engagement ranges out there with one, so you can't ensure safety of players. And I don't think having a wicked hot sniper rifle would even be practical on a small field, but one of the ones I play on is just MASSIVE so it makes sense to allow hotter snipers, or they have minimal range of engagement. Which sucks. And eliminates their purpose.
wow... a lot more than I set out to write... but that's my $0.02 |

US$1440.00, not so bad. Don't have to upgrade it. Ever.
