G&P uses a standard M4 nozzle as well, but uses a superior AUG hop chamber, and a V2 mechbox. The advantage of which is that it's 100% TM compatible for upgrades
Anything you can put in a G&P M4 can be put in their 249 |

Only thing I need now is a lower rail system which seems to be impossible to find right now and sold out everywhere! I seem to be getting about 180-200ft out of my G&P 249 Marine (MK2)

How'd you crack your G&P?

Brand new out of the box it had the mechbox crack. Im guessing due to the super high FPS regs for importing at the time they must of test fired it. No regular stock V2 could really handle those kinds of power levels.

When I got mine they were coming in at 420fps
But with ARS cylinder/piston heads now, the PGC mechbox's toughness is no longer an advantage. I've run mine at 380fps and 1100-1300rpm for 2 years now, and 350fps for 2 and half years before that, same mechbox shell as when i bought it, no cracks. It helps that G&P makes some of the toughest stock shells out there too. |

I was on the receiving end of my own A&K M249 POST hopup mod (I installed a Guarder Clear sleeve and used a piece of speaker wire insulation for the nub) at Border Wars II when I let one of our local guys on the other team use it for the game.
The dude was at the end of a path 200-ish feet away from our respawn picking off people with impunity and no one else could touch him. He said he could see BBs of people shooting at him hitting the ground 30+ feet in front of him.

Yep, I'm sure a lot of people who favor green camo could tell you how devastating mine is at claybank lol
Having a high quality hop rubber in there is a HUGE advantage! I'm running a guarder black with SCS right now, but I wanna try a firefly and see how that goes. I'm also still using the stock 6.08 barrel, never really thought about upgrading. I'd like to stick to 6.08, but may have to settle for a 6.05 |

Can anyone tell me what gearbox an A&K M249 uses? For example an AR uses a type 2 and V3 for an AK.

Version 69
LOL. It's just called a CA M249 gear box as far as I know. It has no "Version" assigned to it.

The A&K is a clone of the CA which was itself a clone of the TOP M249 with the aftermarket PGC gearbox (to replace the troublesome TOP bellows system) cloned and installed by default.

V2/V3 parts should fit.
A&K used an M4/M16 length nozzle and you'll need a V2 spring guide since it screws into the base.

I always have trouble fitting the gears properly in those PGC mechboxes. The spur gear always rubs on the mechbox so I gotta file and dremel a bit. CA doesn't use TM spec gears, they're actually slightly off spec. Not enough to cause failures, but enough that upgraded gears always sounds like shit
