"price gouging" I lol'ed at that, i remember the days of 600 doller plastic bodied JG M4A1"s no rails no nothin just a plain jane plastic m4, all you newer guys should count yourselves lucky you werent playin 5-6 years ago or even earlyer.
800 doller TM VSR10 anybody remember those?

Id agree VFC is prolly the best ballence of nice externals and decent internals especially if you like a 416

Arghhhhh I often kick myself.....I bought my JG G36 for $400 just over a year ago, RIGHT BEFORE THEY CHANGED THE FPS LIMIT. Hey look, they go for $149 now..... :rocket:

I just got into Airsoft a few weeks ago. I bought a G&G TR16 Carbine. The gun performs great and made me extremely happy with my purchase. I will soon be getting a second gun for my gf and it will definitely be a G&G. She likes the GR15 Raider. Its got the rails in a CQB style M4. The only difference from the upper models is the body is not metal. I hope it helps.

If I had to buy a complete AEG, I would only buy VFC. They really are worth the extra $. I think we're all in agreement that anybody's who owned a VFC has been generally very happy with them aside from the grenading piston, aluminum piston head and self-shimming gears.

King Arms- OK for the price, relatively little issues. Hard to find anything other than their standard M4A1 though. I have their KAC SR15 E3 IWS (back before KAC shut them down) and it's sublime.

G&G - I don't mind them but lack of trades turn me off. Plus most of them come with the polymer lower. Let's face it - what kind of decent gun isn't full-metal nowadays?

G&P... don't even get me started. Cool stuff like their VLTOR uppers and Magpul lowers, LMT MRPs, etc. but poorly executed (finish isn't as durable as it seems, proprietary threading, etc.). Gearbox SHELLS are like tanks, everything else inside them is not.

KWA - Looks nice, proprietary gearbox and what-not. Not "lipo-ready" as they say. No trades on most of their guns unless you pay the premium for their Magpul line. Stick with their gas products.

ARES - No.

Classic Army - Classic who?? They've been out of the game for so long, most people are forgetting about them. Do they even make new guns anymore other than the LWRC? Their X-series isn't half-bad.

CYMA, JG, Echo1, A&K, SRC, Javelin, DBoys, APS - I'm lumping them all together because to me they're pretty much all the same crap. Passes the 10ft test and they generally work but if you're into any sort of detail, clean lines and/or a great-feeling gun, look elsewhere.

go for the VFC M4.... I just got it as a first rifle yesterday from Mach1 in Toronto and it is solid! I was surprised by the weight and how beautiful it looks... It does have butt stock wobble but some some tape and it will probably be fine.

I was gonna go for this rifle from this store, Just read better things about G&G as a starter. Just wondering if you have fired this and used it?? I was a little turned off by the price/quality compared to my other research.

not fired yet and not used for me to make an accurate assesment... but the externals are great. I was going to go for the sopmod version but they were out of stock so I went with the E series which only had a few minor differences that were not really a big deal... it did cost me $100 less and that was good because I bought goggles with that money.

G&G is a great company for starter AEG's. Toptech or not, the price to performance ratio is very good.

I'd disagree with your assessment of CYMA, JG and DBoys...but that's just me. (and my frankentorques).
also the G&G polymer bodies are quite nice (if SHS pistons have taught us anything about glass-fiber filled nylon...) but they've got a multitude of other things that keep me away from them.

I seccond that, yes everything else you said is right on the money but ive had some decent JG and Echo1 guns over the years (plastic bodied mind you) and im prety impressed with how long they last without opening the gearboxes at all for reshim or lube or anything.
The one that did fail on me was after 4 years or so and it was a cracked V2 gearbox in the cold so we all know that happens eventually.
Also I recently got a Cyma Mp5K PDW and I gotta say for the 200 bucks i paid for it its prety sweet heavyer then my plastic M4's shoots a good 120ft accurately with a pistol sized barrel, sights are a lil off but im slowly getting them adjusted correctly.
Also i had to pull it apart and reassemble the hop up unit and reinstall it as it had some missfeeds out of the box but it was corrected with that.

I will third this.

The ACM stuff can occasionally be very good*. The CYMA MP5K is a great base to build an MP5K from, the DBoys PDW is a fine base as well.

I marked that sentence above with a * because I wouldn't recommend anybody any ACM gun stock, they all need some gutting and improvements. That said, I don't recommend anybody run any AEG stock...
