Don't bother with the WE AEG's @_@.
Just spend the upfront cost for the VFC, trust me, initial cost is $$, but worth it in the end. |

Avoid WE AEGs, their GBBRs are nothing amazing, their AEGs are just garbage. All of them. G&G SCAR is average, externals are nowhere near as nice as VFC and the G&G wiring is designed so poorly that it has three times as many connectors as VFC, but doesn't have internal stock wiring like VFC. Also, G&G mechbox shells are some of the worst ever produced in airsoft.
VFC has the best externals by far, has internal stock wiring, and has the better stock mechbox of all the options listed. From a tech perspective, I literally don't see any reason to buy a G&G SCAR over a VFC. |

Yep, I am a VFC whore. There's a reason for that. I didn't just buy a bunch of VFCs and then decide they were the best so I could comfort myself and sleep at night lol.

Okay, I'll stop looking at the WE then. I think I will stick with the L, mag compatibility seems to be the biggest advantage, as well as variety of manufacturers. I'll see where the VFC and G&G are available, etc...

Could some of the VFC SCAR-L owners provide some input there - how is the compatibility with PMAGs?
Thanks |

There's also the issue of the VFC SCAR H mags being infinity dollars.

I would say the only disadvantage of the VFC SCAR is in the hop up design. It doesn't fit inside the mechbox and self align like AUG, AK, M4 etc hop ups. Its similar to the G36 design where the unit is pressed against the front, not inside the front of the mechbox by a spring. This means nozzle misalignment is a common recurring issue when you start changing hop up rubbers, nozzles, cylinder heads etc.
This has no negative effect the gun's overall performance as long as you either keep it stock or upgrade it properly. |

I had a Scar L once. Then I sold it.
I was dumb. If you're swayed into looking at others for reasons like price and takedown procedures (not that you need to, just buy a VFC), here's the clone hierarchy: VFC is it's own thing and probably the nicest (kind-of). CA is sort of it's own thing and is a totally respectable platform. DBoys is a clone of the CA and while very functional, leaves a lot to be desired. Echo 1 is a clone of the DBoys (no longer manufactured via licensing fiasco?), and while surprisingly pretty awesome if cleaned up, suffers from terribly faulty plastic in the 'boot' stocks. XT offers VFC Scar Ls as one of their upgrade packages if you want to try before you buy (recommended COA, they can be a love/ hate thing ergonomically for some). Didn't you buy a G36C for CQB? Why not go full retard and get a K for outdoors? You can get magwell adapters for STANAG mags if you want to share with squad mates. |

Yeah I got a G33 which is an ICS sorta G36 that ships with an M4 Magwell, custom stock and slightly upgraded rails. I have M4 mags already, so the L really does make sense.
