He was just trying to find out who owned one of them. Y'know like a noobish "how is this gun" type thread. I admit, searching would've reeled in better results, but damn. Permanent ban? That's BS.

If that's what it takes to get a permanent ban, then... I don't know what to say...

There was a clear wanted ad imbedded in the post, I remember it.

Could've been a joke. I'm pretty sure everyone on here has said "oh, well if you want to sold it to me, I wouldn't complain " or " sell your gun to me.....for cheap", or even " PM'd " and those were (loose) quotes , from actual posts.

Everyone is overreacting. Did Identity directly say something offensive to a mod? Did he even insinuate something insulting? Then WTF is the point of a permenant ban? Are you deliberately trying to kill the community?

No, it was written like an actual wanted ad, I remember finding it odd that someone was posting a wanted ad in the second half of their post in the discussion section. IIRC, it had contact info, "contact me" et al.

Yeah, he signed up on a new account late last night and accused the mods of being thoughtless with their powers. It's in the trash but isn't readable right now.

Seems like the mods are just getting fed up with the recent streak of accusations against them, to the point where they stop letting certain infractions slide. Hence the term "crack down".

Alright, he may have been a bit stupid, but c'mon..

And I don't think making an example out of him is the right thing to do.

Examples have to start somewhere.

That's assuming the mods made an example of him. Could just be a strict interpretation and consistent enforcement of the rules. The board has been getting rather laid back until these past few weeks, ex. running commentaries in For Sale threads, numerous accusations against the mods.

For what it's worth, I too, (based on the little info I have about this case) am of the opinion that Identity didn't deserve a perma-ban. He apparently got it from dealing with a tempban the wrong way, a moment of hotheadedness at the worst time possible. This isn't a democracy, though.

If you guys saw how this board was run years ago, you would be glad the board's policies are the way they are now.

Several years ago, this place was being run like a communist regime at times... bans were thrown out left right and center for anything and everything under the sun, as long as it rubbed certain mod/admins the wrong way, even the slightest bit.

Nice post, and I agree.
I'd also go further and ask that all members treat each other in a respectful manner. I was close to leaving this place at one point. Don't beat up on someone for asking a question that has been addressed elsewhere in a forum three miles thick. Not all of us have the time to sift through everything in the odd chance that it has been asked before. Kindly say that the question has been asked before and to look for it in a certain thread...or better yet, provide the link to the thread.
Also, don't rudely criticize the manufacturer choice made by someone, especially a newbie. Feel free to lend your expertise in recommending info and such, but to cowardly say something they own is a piece of sh** and what the f*** were they thinking, is neither polite, respectful, or helpful.
Remember, we want to keep as many people in the sport as possible...not turn them away. We can all help to make this site better.

Totally agree. FAQ's answer many but not all questions. Those new to forums find it difficult to go through everything. For most of those flaming the noobs, are "you" the one cleaning up the threads? I think not. If that's not your job, then don't push your weight around. The integrity of our sport in Canada is under fire from all sorts of biased and uneducated people who don't bother researching more into the world of airsoft. Being such a small community, why can't we just lend a helping hand to help expand this community to one that may one day have a genuine unified voice? When a mod tells you to tone down your posts or to do things differently or teach you a few forum etiquettes, don't take it as a hit to your ego. This is a privately operated forum. They have the right to run it how they want. Don't want to follow the rules? Leave. I am greatful for this crackdown and hope the best for ASC which has done so much to keep airsoft in Canada afloat.

No offence guy, but no we fucking DON'T.

Years ago, this community was TIGHTER because we didn't have so many new people coming aboard, asking for advice, and then disregarding that advice as soon as it was issued. Back then, people knew that the game was played on the FIELD, and the boards were just a place to talk about new guns, broken guns, fixed guns, or where to use them.

Now this whole place is a fucking ***** contest with the uneducated trying to educate the idiots.

Just HELP PEOPLE. Answer questions if you can, keep your fingers off the keyboard if you don't know or aren't 100% sure of what you're talking about. If something's a repost, WHO CARES? MOVE ALONG. This is the internet, it's built on stupidity and thrives on idiocy. Someone asks a dumb question? WHO CARES? Is the fucking world going to end if you don't jump in and say "READ THE FAQ"?

There are two kinds of people on these boards - those who you're going to see and interact with in person, and those you'll never know. Regardless of whether they're airsofters or chairsofters, they still fit into those categories. If you treat everyone as if they're the first kind, you'll find you're a lot more reluctant to hand someone an e-beating because you may meet that person and if you bit off more than you can chew, you're going to have to answer to it.

I wouldn't ridicule a member of my staff in front of their friends or colleagues, and it shouldn't be done here either. Members and Moderators both should remember the same thing; you might meet these people at some point, so be fair.
