Notched AK fire selector

The notch is a "poor man's" bolt hold open catch. Pull back the bolt, push the selector up. Completely manual, doesn't engage automatically (i.e. empty mag).

Not completely sure how much use it is, but I saw a pic of a guy with it setup that way to demonstrate a clear/empty chamber at a range to the range officer.

it make hopup adjustments a lot easier if you have a spring assisted bolt cover. That and there is another notch in the middle towards the bottom of the selector that is much easier to get at with your finger and still maintain you grip. If you transition from semi to full a lot I would consider the selector switch a legitimate upgrade.

Wow, you must know alot about tactical shooting then, eh?

Also, I'm pretty sure that notch is there to let the chamber cool down (RS), so you don't cook off any rounds after sustained fire.

Please. Think of the AK's. Every time you put rails on an AK, the Kremlin exports a kitten somewhere colder.
Pics please? Counter the god-awful new fad of putting rails on every flat surface.

Duty car to five minutes readiness, by the way.

Simple Bolt Catch as mentioned above so that the status of the weapon can be visualy established without the weapon having to be cocked.

I guess it would facilitate cooling... but that is a secondary benefit.

I could see such a modification being a benefit in situations where the ROI require the weapon to be kept unloaded. You rack a mag in.. and flip the selector... and you are in battery... a time saving that could be very important.

Err. I meant Yugoslavian.

Yugo M72: Put a Guarder Bipod Front Set on a stock AK47 and add a milled reciever and add a drum magazine. Presto chango, Romanian M72 (sure it's missing the ribbed piece underneath the gas tube, but hardly anyone notices. I don't have any photos of it, and it's currently been fully converted to a RPK, but it was still nice.

You gotta admire a country that reuses wood furniture for their assault rifle on their LMG and even their sniper rifle (The M76)

Then you definitely should avoid looking at the ICS Anniversary edition AK's. They finally get the right receivers and furniture, and then... Uhm... Well I won't link the picture because they made my eyes bleed blood.

It's kinda sad how everyone always jumps at any kind of AK mods that aren't a wood kits. If someone likes this then let them be.

because if it isn't a wood kit, its a synth kit, and if isn't a synth kit, it is a fail kit.
