When installing a hop-up rubber... Don't use any silicon oil, if you need lubricant.. use saliva.
Make sure you wash it in cold water (not warm, warm can work the oils deeper into the rubber) with a drop of dish-soap to remove any oils. |

Just to add on Tys for ICS M4 hop up.
I already modify the one piece metal regular M4 hop up for ICS but you need to change the ICS nozzle to regular nozzle either because ICS nozzle is longer than regular M4 so you will have feeding issue unless you hold the magazines all the time but still even you hold it, it will shot but the BBs will drop like 10 to 20 feet away from you. Better change the nozzle as well if you want to go that route but after using ICS M4 hop up, I found that it's just good but it's better reliable than one piece metal hop up because of it's design, once you set it right then it will just stay there. To quote Stalkers: TM parts are very good for aftermarket use as well.

Thanks for all the info! It helps a lot. One more question, what makes tightbore barrels better? I mean, are the standard barrels not 6.04? Is there that much of a difference between 6.03 and 6.04?
Im kinda talkin' out my ass here as I've no idea what those nubers mean ; ) |

Most stock barrels are 6.08, although some brans (Top end G&G for example) have 6.04s in them.
As for the differance between 6.04 and 6.03? personally, i can't really tell, look for a good brand rather then a specific size

6.08mm, 6.04mm, 6.03mm, etc...refer to the inner diameter of the inner barrel (i.e. the hole the bb goes through). Obviously you're talking about very minute differences...but there are some noticeable end-performance things to note.
BB's are NOT 6mm....they're actually smaller. Somewhere around 5.96-5.98mm. They're mass produced...and guys bitch if they're more than $15 for a couple of thousand of them...so you can imagine how precise/strict the quality control can be to maintain that price point. Good BBs will deviate very little (i.e. +/- 0.01 or 0.02mm) between BBs. You can imagine what would happen if the bb and the bore diameter were the same...a loose bb would go through...a slightly larger bb would jam. So a "6.00mm" barrel...isn't a great idea unless your ammo is pristine and very precise. Conversly...if you have a 6.10mm barrel (some clones/sportlines/junk)...there's 0.1-0.12mm of play around the BB as it travels down the barrel. That space lets a lot of air slip by and lets the BB "bounce" it's way down the barrel. Doesn't help accuracy at all. A "tight" bore barrel will minimize that wasted blow-by air...but still allow for BB size variations (you hope they're perfectly round too...but what can you expect from something that costs 0.5 a cent each). 6.04mm and 6.03mm have proven out to be good general compromises. Remember...metals swell and shrink with temperature and you're dealing with hundreds of a mm...and I don't know for sure, but I'd wonder if BB's swell if they get hot and/or wet. |

One more thing... I've been seeing a lot to Teflon coated tight-bore barrels around here. They are considerably more expensive, and am wondering if they're worth the extra cash?
Anyone have some experience with them? |

Just got back from my local.... picked up a prometheus 6.03 barrel and systema rubber. Anything different installing tighbore vs. reg. barrels? Or is it business as usual?

Cool, thanks. Any idea why washing and drying the ruber before installing it makes a difference? Just curious.

by doing so, you get rid of excess debris, oil, grease, and everything else that builds up inside your hop up rubber which can cause inaccuracy and consistency problems.

There is always a question that always bug me, I plan to make my the lower of ICS non destructible.
I will upgrade Trigger Master and Systema magnum motor but currently not sure about gears, I want one that just will last for long or almost forever. So anybody would recommend for a good gears set, now the price is not issue. Thanks KND

Modify Smooth gears? Those are shimless, and mine work great. Be sure to get the "Smooth" verison, or else they will not work with all brands of mechbox.
You can find 'em on airsoftparts.ca for about 100 bucks.
