Go with the style and era the gun was made, like a swat uniform with an mp40 or thompson would look weird.

So bottom line, go for functionality, because even the pros do it!
It's not about functionnality, it's about recreating what the real military do. And uniform wise. if we require a force to look alike, it's not because we all want them to blend in the same way, it's because we want to tell them appart.

Uniforme as in uniformity.

When you play in team, camoflage is second to uniformity.

Uniformity is only necessary if the team is big enough that you can't recognise all the members on sight. That's very unlikely to happen with airsoft. Also, not everyone can afford to purchase half a dozen sets of kit. The only thing my group frowns on is street clothes and even with that we allow it for newbies. Our regular members are pretty evenly spread over OD, woodland, cadpat and multicam. That level of strictness would only really be needed for hardcore milsim. And our group has even had games like that and not required it.

I beg to differ. Most teams which have been around for a while have at least one camouflage which is the "team colour" and then members often have sets of other colours. As an airsofter, if you want any reasonable choice in which team you can play on in an event, it's wise to have set of tan and green BDUs, as this is the common split for teams. Obviously the more strict the milsim, the more strict the BDU sets are.

Ultimately, if you have a favorite BDU type, go buy it and just confirm with the game host about which team it will be allowed on if it's not described in the uniform rule's.

I have the SIG 552 with extended barrel, covered by a G&P zombie killers silencer. Already painted a nice rusted black/brown.
Thanks guys for helping me, I thought that it was more functional in close proximity. But I will get some tiger stripe camo for games that require Military camo. The PMC is actually our teams theme, about ten of us. BAD GUYS in some games, assembled mercs for others. Makes a great offer for other teams to play against in our opinion. Schedualing though has only allowed us to skirmish as a full team this season (our first).

If it is allowed on feild I'll robably opt for my hunting cammo, but just in case I get to many pissy looks I'll make sure to have some tigerstripe nam shit or something to apease the masses. Thanks for the input I made my decision.

Next wad of cash I get, I'm going to spray paint a flight suit neon easter bunny pink and run it as my bdu in a milsim.

So to keep from being hated and killing potential, how does german flektarn sound?

I would like to be a curtiouse player in all respects not just calling hits. In that light how would a set of Flektarn, Tigerstripe, olive and tan sound? I can give up the functionality to gain the joy of quality fun for everyone.

As has been said before, BDU's (or not) is usually up to the game organizer. If it's a large game. weekend-long milsim, or something uber-serious, there will be specific intructions on what kind of "team" uniform you can wear, and nothing else will usually be tolerated.

If it's a more low-key, skirmish-type game for a few hours, pretty much anything goes. Again, though, it's up to the orrganizers.

If you want good cheap "military" BDU's, good old Canadian OD's are good, as are Flectarn and Brit Kit. Hell, you can get Propper or Tru Spec BDU's in Marpat or ACU for under $100....

Just as a sampling of a few Calgary based teams...
ETRU - British DPM
SDU - Multicam
Spectres - German Flecktarn
Team 7 - US Woodland/OD
Calcity - PMC look / tan

On a side note, as part of the annual Battlefield series, Battlefield 5.5 will be held on July 18, 2009 at Weekend Warriors in Didsbury/Olds. This is a make-up of a previously scheduled game that was cancelled due to weather.
Game is on from 6 PM to 12 AM. Sign up on JOC to get more details. There were over 150 people who attended last year.
Great game for all levels of skill.

I think its great when new guys try fresh takes on Camo patterns! My kill count goes up. Definately has great potential as a team camo pattern!!!
