AIR CONDITIONING! Last time I played at CQB Paintball in Toronto, I felt like I was in a pressure cooker. See if you can get your insurance carrier to allow more than JUST paintball goggles/masks. A well accepted brand of BBs on site is a great idea. Price wise try and keep it at or under $20 unless you get things like water or food included. Strobe lights in dim-lit areas makes for INTENSE action. Maybe having a game during the night where there is a prize. Like a last man standing match where the winner gets a free bag of BBs or something. If running airsoft once a week or more, maybe have a specialty night like "Pistols Only Night" or something of the like. Maybe having minisims or something, given the size of the field. Variable lighting conditions would be nice, where you run a skrim at full light, then you run a skrim at barely visible lighthing. And yeah, I will echo the sentiment about cleaning the paint before an airsoft game. Nothing pisses me off more than having to take a Q Tip to everything in order to clean alien jizz off my gear and guns.

Paint won't be a problem, I found a solution. Thanks loads for your ideas, keep em coming!

PS. A friend of mine suggested to create a replica of a COD4 map (mp_crossfire) which offers medium/long range engagements as well as CQB all over the map. What are your opinions on this?

For a method of making the paint cleanable you could paint everything in the areana with outdoor paint that is designed to get wet then install floor drains and you can take a hose or light pressure washer and you can clean off all the paint before an airsoft match, people might mind getting a little water on their gear but not as much as getting paint on their gear. just make sure you wash regularaly.

EDIT: you beat me to it

Paint...

If it is a paintball place .. there will be paint..

it makes no sense from a business standpoint to spend money on labour to clean up the paint .. and not make it back ++ one the game fees of airsofters.

The paintballers don't mind the paint...

if you hate paint... don't play at a paintball place... simple

Im not that old but I am generally grumpy

I'm not knocking the guy, hey if someone were to build that type of field it would be the best thing since MJ's death. But judging from other posts by the author, I have a strange feeling this is exactly what Brian said it is. I dont even know Brian but I do hear he is also a Grumpy man.

Your reply is filled with sarcasm Brian... that isn't the goal of this thread. This is happening and ideas are being thrown around. I would really appreciate if you keep that kind of stuff out of here... it makes it easier to achieve the goal of this topic.

As for your comment about paint being present, a solution has been found to make sure paint won't be a problem, thereby making the arena accessible to both paintballers and airsofters. I have taken the advice of one of the people who have replied here and checked out those paintballs that have powder in them. Found it, contacted their people, and it's all good.

Money won't be a huge problem.

I am too, however this is not too far away from what Mirabel paintball has to offer.
I'm pretty sure you can make a decent pseudo-town with wooden houses and old cars, buses...

I do apologize kind sir. I am not being sarcastic either, just trying to keep things light. I hope for the greater good of the area you do succeed in building something similar to that COD4 level. I will be one of the first there if you do. Its just incredibly expensive to do such a thing, but for all I know you could be loaded.
Good luck.

Yeah Mirabel is a fun place for airsoft I agree, but even that field has allot more than a hundred grand tied up. If you could build what Mirabel has, but make the "town" area bigger that would be tops! A field that incorporated moving vehicles would also be a great addition to the village setting.
Also some permanent pyro, as in a radar mast or cache that must be destroyed. Uses some form of pyro to simulate destruction of said objective.

It makes a really big difference, and it is alot easier to clean up, they clean up once a week and you can't tell there was paint unless you look at the tops of the pillars and on the nets, all the bunkers are clean

Location: my field mostly. seems that way at least.
i would pitch that if this is out door that there be plenty of undercover area for gear and people in the staging area. lockers for rent would also be great.
i like field layouts that dont have camp locations. what i mean is that i hate it when one guy can sit in a corner and hold half a field with no feasible way of flanking him.
other than that i vote for bbs and if food isnt included that it be available at a REASONABLE cost. a battery charging station would be good.

good luck pulling of the COD map btw. that's gunna be fun building.

I just spoke with someone from Hong Kong who's part of the whole P.Ball thing and from what they say, this kind of ammo far surpasses paintballs. I really appreciate your input, it may have just won me the fight against the city for funding!

I appreciate it man, but I am not "loaded"... just talented in finding funding. I'm 20 years old only, but I have been part of a couple K$ projects and they went brilliantly. The difference between those and this one is that this one will be personal. It'll happen, and as I said the initial funding won't be a huge problem. My main issue is to find a winning potion for this area.

What is it that you guys like about Mirabel?

By the way, the COD map is for the layout mostly. If you guys have ever played it, the angles and such are what makes this thing a beauty. It's rather big and yeah it'll be a bitch to get together, but it's definitely feasible if you've got the guts and the investors. I don't intend on putting every last bit of detail in there (round arches, etc) but some stuff is essential such as cars etc.

Keep the ideas coming guys, this is rich!

I have been to a few paintball fields in the US, they had "sewer systems" built into there field. They used the concrete sewers that would be used anywhere in the city. Was very cool being able to cross parts of the field through the sewer network. Adds another dimension to the game.

Mirabel, has a great little village set up. I just wish it was larger. Most of the buildings can be entered and have multiple levels. Its allot nicer than just having a kill house to play CQB.
