I don't think they're particularly prone to fail, but finding replacements parts is brutal.

Buying that gun was a mistake, especially from XT. Should have PM'd me like I said.

They wouldnt have charged you to fix it, i know the techs there, the bbs they use are fine they use them in guns that shoot over 30rps. Did they test the gun when you complained? Did it happen for them? Ares arent that hard to get parts for, there a decent gun and easy to fix.

Ive used and worked on many ares in my time, parts can be hard to get but not impossible(all about who you know). Quality is the same as most low to mid level gun brands, there are hit and misses, quirks, and lemons as with all gun brands. As for low quality most low to mid levels are not given very good QC on consistancy. The only consistant issue Ive seen with these newer ares are a consistant issue with the piston breaking. I can admit that is an issue but when you take into account most guys are putting "BIG" springs in them its not really surprising.
I will not argue with you on someone elses thread, its not what he meant it for. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion and I expressed mine, if you have an issue with it feel free to pm me and we can discuss it further. |

No offense, but I know how it works. Guy that knows absolutely nothing about something buys something that may or may not be broken or damaged... When I learn a lot more about the guns and how they work and what to buy/avoid Ill buy from other people in my area. Its nothing personal. |

you didnt get screwed man it could just as easily be a mag thing, they also didnt lube the barrel perse they put a drop of silicon oil in it and what ran a push rod thru to get the dirt and shit out of it? you dont leave the oil in there you clean it till the rag doesnt come out wet anymore. How often was it misfeeding? and honsetly did it happen to them as they tried it? Guns do misfeed it does happen, a small piece of dust, a small deformation on the bb, the tappet not cycling quite enough (ie sticks), were you holding the mag in the mag well, etc...there are tons of reasons why it could have happened, dont feel you got a lemon.
There all sales is final is why you cant return it, its now a used gun that most people wont want to buy, but on the bright side they will back what they sell to a certain point even taking a hit on the sale, I have seen this with my own eyes. Buying used on this forum has its perks, If someone screws you on this site I would not want to be him, everyone knows everyone on this site and really if you get screwed there are reprocusions for it. |

The gun would Jam on me and then them, You are probably right. I'm really new to this so it could have been something I was doing.. I see things like this happen all the time with computers. I repair them on the side and the stupidest things can set one off but it also depends on the user. What would you suggest for gun lubricant? Still have yet to buy it. Edit: Trying to meet up with dutch tonight at XT to get verified. I really do appreciate all the help people are giving me. I know I am am stubborn and as noob as possible. I'm glad people can put up with me |

First thing I would do is get some .22 cleaning cloths, and use the unjamming rod, stick the cleaning cloth in the looped side. Spray some silicone oil down the barrel, and "twist" the rod through and back out. Repeat until the cloth comes out dry and clean. Second possibility is that the hopup is on too high, or there is something wrong (nub or bucking), which you should check out. Third, which I haven't experienced personally, is the air nozzle. I'm not sure how this one works, but I know it can cause jams. Fourth cause is possibly the magazine, so if you can find someone else's to use, you can rule that out. Fifth is using crappy bb's. Try some BBBastards, as that is probably the best you can do in Canada, without looking too far. Most people on this forum use those so it shouldn't be too hard. (Sixth) Check the fps on the chrono. Never heard of this happening, but if there is something seriously wrong with the gearbox, there might not be enough pressure to push the bb out, but the air nozzle will keep pushing more and more bb's through the bucking mound, and you'll might get jammed up a bit. |

This might sound stupid, but did you check if the hop up was turned all the way up?

I'm sorry but change the BB's! I did a bunch of testing with Golden ball BB's (Crap). Almost cost me a cyl. for my PTW. Pick up some BBastards or AE's you'll be fine. I used the Golden balls in my ICS,G&P & Classic Army and none worked well rather the BB's were washed or not. There is an oil of some kind on them, but if you mic'em there tolerance is all over the place.
