What's the point of having multi cam though? It was rumored that the Americans were going to issue it but they have their new Digi ACU instead. So if no real thing has multi cam why wear it?

What's the point of having multicam? Because it works very well. Not every airsoft has to dress up in authentic camouflage currently in use with a military force in the world. Lots of scenario games have at least three factions, two of them being opposing forces, and one other being some sort of rebel group, mercenary, or special forces group. Having an effective camouflage that is not in official use allows the third faction to bring some semblance of uniformity to the game.

There are other factors involved when in comes to a government contract going through or not on the purchase of equipment.

Guess what the main one is? MONEY.

Second, I'm guessing would be ability to produce required quantities in a certain amount of time with said locked budget.

Just because a product is effective does not mean the purchaser MUST ONLY buy that. After all, look at how many people keep buying CA, ICS and G&P guns over TM....

Uh, Blackwater uses it. Unless of course, you don't consider them "real".

Blackwater is also a Mercenary Company. He's talking real world militaries.

Also, I'm kinda lost on the whole multicam thing. I assume it works as "Multi camo" so that it gives you good concelement in all terrain...could someone please clarify this.

To be more specific. Directly from their brochure (which came with my order)

"Though available in various colours and patterns, most equipment is shown here in a new camouflage pattern called MultiCam. MultiCam was developed by Crye Associates for the US Army as an experimental pattern designed to work in multiple environments...MultiCam is designed to help users blend in to varied locations, terrains, seasons and light conditions with one basic kit of gear.
