Could you elaborate on how? I'll take your advice but I would like to increase my knowledge repository in the process. Would ehobbyasia be a viable alternative?

That one is actually an ARES SL8, purpose built. I have a STAR SL9 conversion kit kicking around I used to have on my CA G36. It's involved to do the conversion, I wouldn't try it if you don't know your way around the G36. It's not hard per se but quite possible to miss something important. I'm probably going to put it on a G36C eventually.

(STAR conversion kit on my Classic Army G36 with M4 magwell conversion. Never did get it to feed properly)

Also, DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM EVIKE if you're in Canada. Ever. They screw international customers HARD.

Not to turn this into a dump pouch discussion, but I want to clarify that I hang an open-top dump pouch off my belt, on my rear left, free hanging. You can get leg drop dump pouches as well, if you wanted it snug against your body.

If you have an open pouch on your vest, things might come falling out if you bend over. If you have a dump pouch that zips/velcros up, then you're wasting time opening the pouch, when you should just be dropping your mag in. Lastly, if the pouch is on your chest, then it's just going to get in the way, or be awkwardly high up.

what brand is your g36? This actually is important and I forgot to ask and not sure if it was answered or not...

ares g36s like ares mags... I've spoken to a few owners that say other mags tend not to stay in the magwell or fit well. We know that g36 pmags fit nicely though, we tried some of my mags in some ares guns. non ares mags were reported to be loose in ares guns.

If you have a non ares g36, it might be better to get any other brand of magazine, since the fit might be that much different. It could be that they will fit too tight, or they are shaped slightly different and might not feed well.

Also.. don't order from evike. Aside from screwing up the order, they will charge you ridiculous amounts to ship your product. There are far more reputable local canadian dealers that sell condor gear that I would much rather give money to, even if the prices are a bit higher.

The are also better US condor dealers than evike.

I've got a JG g36c, lurkingknight. I don't have any issue supporting local sellers, it's just that I'm having trouble finding all the stuff I need within Canada whilst also being relatively affordable to me.

Evike won't end up being any more affordable.

Where abouts are you located? If you're not sure what kind of vest you'll want to get, it would be good to try on a few different styles, if you're near a physical store.

There's lots of different styles, from just a chest rig, to a little crossdraw vest, to a thin plate carrier, to a thicker kevlar-vest style (for lack of a better way to describe it), to a full blown, padded-out, plate carrier, like a CIRAS.

Try out different ones, and see how your mobility is, how comfortable it is, how good the stitching is, etc. If you're going to be playing a lot of indoor, a simple and maneuverable chest rig might be all you want. If you're going to be outdoor in the winter, you might enjoy the added warmth of a thicker plate carrier.

Evike will end up charging you 80$ to ship something. They make you pay for the order before even doing a shipping quote. Hero army surplus in oshawa has always given me good service. toronto airsoft has also started carrying some condor products as well.

A full blown molle rig is going to be more expensive than a presetup vest, but unfortunately you have a g36 so the preconfigured m4 vests won't fit the mags. Save up more, get AVed if you can since some rigs and pouches do come up for sale every now and then on the classifieds... I think you'll need a bit more than 100$ for mags and tac rig.

Unless Hero in Oshawa is under new management I wouldn't go there either. It's one of the only retailers for anything I've ever been in where the sales staff blatantly lied to my face.

A vest off ehobby will be cheap. I can't stress enough the importance of not buying a cheap vest. Cheap vest rip, break, are uncomfortable, and generally just of such poor quality they're not worth the money -not when you could have doubled your budget and gotten a ten-times better product.

If you haven't budgeted around $600-$800 for your kit (including gun), or $400-ish not including the gun, you're probably looking too cheap for new stuff and should start looking in the ASC classifieds and get in touch with local players to see if they have something they can sell you.

$400 will get you boots, vest, eye protection, and a good charger, if you shop smart.

So after taking look at all the advice I see what you guys mean. I think I'm just going to buy the mags I need for now and hold off until later for the rest of the gear. Thanks for your advice on how to approach this as well as the suggestions of where to buy from. I'll continue scouring the sites whilst I save up.

Actually in a CQB or indoor (read URBAN) area you want the plate carrier (but chest rigs aren't bad cause BB's don't actually kill you) and you want the lighter chest rigs for outdoor (read forest).

2 Great threads for your pleasure!

Remember K-factor, if your going prone a plate carriers extra few inches make it harder to go prone.

Me and my team have probably given hero 6+k worth of business in the last year without issue mostly from weborder. I'm not sure what to tell you. We've been satisfied with their service.

Same here...

Our entire team orders from there both in person at the store and on their website pretty much every month and we have never had a single problem. We've probably also spent a similar amount of money, several K, in that store. Not a single issue, not a single swindle, lie, delay, or anything. Instant shipping. In and out of the store.

We have absolutely no idea what Curo or kalnaren are talking about, and it's not the first time I've seen the complaints / rumours or mentions of supposed rumours. If you guys have a beef against this retailer, be specific...

We'd love to give our business to Beaver or Army Issue or whoever else but typically we're just going by what's available in the store (either web or physical) and Hero is typically stocked to the roof with stuff and everyone in our caravan leaves with something.
