Not so much running, but doing alot of walking. Do this with a pack that weighs what you will carry on a typical game day weighs.
Being a scout - here's a typical outdoor game for me. Walk 15 Km, but drop to prone every 100meters, look and listen for 45 seconds or so, report to commander, repeat 150 times. A wee tireing at the end of the day. Depends on how you have to play. Some guys at our games walk 500m get in a 8 hour gun battle, then walk back to their car. |

running is fine, so long as your running towards, not away from.

I swear the only times guys ever see me run on the field is a) I'm doing something really stupid and should be getting shot or b) I did something really stupid and it didn't work
too often I'm seen walking around while everyone is like 'omg bb's are commers at mes!" sides running is good for more then just airsoft. take it as a bar example; your drunk (but not too drunk) and the fat ugly chick comes up to you and starts to hit on you. gotta run from that right? unless your me or droc, then you stay there and chance it. that and running is healthy. or so everyone in the army tells me when I'm ran into the ground twice a week, ugh. |

Like anything requiring any physical activity, you'll enjoy it much more if you're in decent shape. I've lost about 15lbs in the past few months, and my enjoyment of the sport has gone way up since I can perform at much higher levels than ever before.
Long distance running won't help you. Sprinting will. Running in-game is all about reaction, getting somewhere quickly or getting away from somewhere in a hurry. Listen, there are lots of reasons to get in shape. Airsoft is as good a reason as any, and you have nothing to lose by doing so. |

are you guys kidding me?!?!?! you find it difficult to run 1 measly kilometer with 30 pounds of gear? unbeleivable! geez, i mean seriously. during my workouts, every 2 days, i do 15 pushups with a 30 pound vest on, then about 7- 10 min. on a stairmaster set at 75 steps a minute with a 50 pound vest. ask me to run a kilometer with 30 pounds? no worries. you guys gotta be really out of shape. even my buddy who doesn't work out at all can run that far in full kit. sad sad sad guys. and you think you're "simulating" the military or whoever? try starting with physical fitness, then real tactics (none of this damn spray and pray in the room like i always see), and then start a competition. or you could grow up, buy a real Glock and AR15 and shoot in the IPSC competition. oh wait, there running in that sport. nevermind.
